CURRENT OPENINGS:
  • Full-time: 80 hours biweekly
  • Part of the Dining Services Leadership on-call rotation.
  • Weekends and holidays may be required (rotating).::
The Kitchen Operations Manager is responsible for the overall back of house operations, including a five-week cycle menu, recipes, inventory, café, and storage areas. Overall resident satisfaction is a priority for this role. The Kitchen Operations Manager will also be responsible for overall sanitation of the Dining Services Department and for Healthcare Personal Care dining, and the kitchen on a weekend rotation. This position will be performed in accordance with Mennonite Home Communities Core Values, Mission Statement, and regulations.:

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • CDM required or the willingness to obtain within the first six months.
  • Food Service, Hotel Management or Hospital Degree strongly preferred.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in healthcare food services, preferably in a supervisory or managerial role.:
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
  • Develops, implements, and monitors training guidelines, policies, and procedures for back of the house team members. This is to include hands on training, job breakdowns, and serving as a professional role model for the team.
  • Updates and maintains food inventory and recipes. Purchases food/non-food with oversight of food stocking and rotation within refrigerators, freezers, and dry storage areas. Is to utilize left over food following safe food guidelines, for all areas. Ensures that rotation and dating policies are enforced and followed.
  • Plans, organizes, and assigns production staff on a daily basis and ensures that cooks and other production staff follow standardized recipes and portion control guidelines. Ensures the back of house and front of house staff are completing pre-shift and post-shift duties.
  • Assists the Director of Dining Services by completing a sanitation checklist for the back of the house and forwards completed forms to the Director for review. Assists with competency reviews, and department orientation all in a timely manner. Takes part in the interview and hiring process.
  • Supports, advises, and assists the Director of Dining Services in meeting and maintaining financial and operational goals. Will continue to assess financial, resident satisfaction, and quality outcomes and works to improve outcomes.
  • Communicates all pertinent information that affects operations regarding staff, systems, etc., to the Director of Dining Services and Dining Services Supervisors. Performs related and unrelated duties as requested in cases of emergency. Conducts progressive discipline if warranted.
  • Ensures the safe use of chemicals and proper use of kitchen equipment by evaluating both for repairs and/or replacement.
  • Supports the Director of Dining Services in their absence with any work task related to dining.:
