Job Summary


GateWay Community College is hiring for two exciting Nursing Laboratory Technicians in our Nursing Department (Simulation). One position is Classified regular and one is Specially Funded. The person selected for any of the two positions will provide support for the nursing laboratory and simulations by preparing, monitoring, and maintaining related equipment, space, supplies, and other resources used for simulation/laboratory instructional purposes.

Essential Functions


50% - Prepares, monitors, maintains, and services equipment, space,supplies, and other resources used during nursing simulation/laboratory instruction; Assists with simulation/laboratory equipment training; Adheres to safe practices, confidentiality, and simulation/laboratory ethics related to student learning; Applies INACSL best practices for simulation

30% - Utilizes communication and interpersonal skills to interact with supervisors, colleagues, students, and the general public to convey information and receive work direction related to nursing simulation/laboratory equipment, space, supplies, and other resources

10% - Collaborates with the simulation team to create and maintains simulation/laboratory schedules and inventory; Maintains professional development in the specialty of simulation.

10% - Organizes, orders, and maintainins student records and files; other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications


Associate’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution and one (1) year of laboratory experience such as maintaining equipment, facility space, supplies or other resources used for laboratory purposes in area of assignment

OR

High School Diploma/GED from a regionally accredited institution and three (3) years of laboratory experience such as maintaining equipment, facility space, supplies or other resources used for laboratory purposes in area of assignment

Desired Qualifications


A. Associates degree or higher in a healthcare field

B. Experience working in an educational simulation/laboratry setting

C. Experience using mid to high-fidelity simulation equipment

D. Experience with online office systems (i.e. Google Suite)

E. Experience working with a diverse population of students in an educational setting

Special Working Conditions

  • Will be required to travel or be assigned to all GateWay locations
  • Will require some evenings or weekends
  • May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen
  • May be required to lift or carry up to #50 lbs
  • MCCCD does not sponsor individuals for any type of work visas
