Job description
Position Summary: The Landscaping Specialist maintains the exterior grounds and landscaping areas of the campus and is primarily responsible for landscaping maintenance and appropriate upkeep of tools and lawn equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Mowing lawns;
· Cultivating and pruning trees and other landscaping areas;
· Maintaining and keeping an inventory of all tools and outdoor power equipment;
· Apply pesticides to remove harmful insects as needed
· Conduct general maintenance duties such as cleaning walkways and fixing fountains
· Trim and edge around walks, flower beds, outdoor structures, and walls
· Plant new decorative bushes, flowers, trees, plants and shrubs
· Remove weeds and dead plants as needed to preserve the health and natural beauty of the plants
· Trim overgrown limbs, hedges and leaves to ensure an appealing look to the area
· Manage wild-scape areas
· Any other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands: In order to perform this job successfully, and individual must be able perform each essential duty satisfactorily and in a timely manner. Physical skills needed include:
· Lifting at least 50 lbs;
· Standing, pushing, pulling, reaching, kneeling, and bending;
· Prolonged periods of standing and walking;
· Ability to climb and descend ladder and stairs;
- Must have the physical ability to work outside during all seasons.
Qualifications:
· Supportive of Warner’s mission, vision and core values, commitment to a Christian lifestyle, and demonstration of character in keeping with biblical models;
· High School diploma or GED;
· Demonstrated landscaping experience;
· Some experience troubleshooting and/or fixing small engines and other lawn care equipment;
· Must be able to read and speak English.
Working Relationships: The Landscaping Specialist is a member of the Facility Services team and reports to the Director of Facility Services.
Work Schedule: Primarily Monday – Friday day hours. Additional hours as needed for significant department or university events.
