What You'll Do
DocuSign is looking for a passionate, talented, and inventive Applied Scientist to help build industry-leading state of the art AI/ML solutions. You will be able to get your hands on the end to end AI / ML feature lifecycle by leveraging document understanding, data cleaning, data labeling, model training in machine learning, NLP, computer vision domain, offline / online evaluation techniques and more. You will be building production level machine learning models that deliver more personalized and automated customer experiences throughout the DocuSign Agreement Cloud.
This position is an individual contributor role reporting to the Senior Director, Engineering.
Responsibility
- Work together with the Applied Science team to perform model development, research, testing and evaluation of existing and emerging NLP / ML / DL methods and technologies that could be effectively applied to the contract domain
- Be knowledgeable in and able to apply the latest architectures and technologies to NLP tasks such as Named Entity Recognition, Semantic Search, Question Answering, Abstractive Summarization, Intent Detection, Sentiment Analysis and etc
- Develop an understanding of the technologies, methods and the architecture within DocuSign product development and an understanding of the entire software development end-to-end process as well as the product code and release management process will be essential
- Understand, assist and improve the existing model training, evaluation and online inferencing process, define online metrics and design user feedback loop for our AI / ML features
- Work closely with Product Management to translate user scenario and product requirements into robust, customer-agnostic machine learning solutions, participate in design and planning discussions to make sure we can deliver high quality models on time.
What You Bring
Basic
- Minimum of 12 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 8 years of related experience with a Master's degree; or a PhD with 5 years experience; or equivalent experience.
- Experience in designing, developing, deploying and monitoring machine learning and deep learning solutions,
- Experience programming in Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow, spaCy, scikit-learn, or equivalent machine learning framework,
- Experience programing in one or more of the following languages - Python, C#, Java, C/C++
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Physics, statistics, econometrics, operations research, applied mathematics or an equal computational field.
Preferred
- Demonstrated experience developing and deploying large scale NLP and deep learning based models in production
- Hands-on experience in the latest NLP model architectures like BERT, SentenceBert, GPT-2, GPT-3, XLNet, T5 and etc.
- Experience in Computer Vision techniques, especially in object detection, document layout analysis, OCR and etc.
- Strong desire to stay ahead of industry trends and technologies with a commitment to continuous learning
- Extensive experience in data collecting, cleaning, sampling, and processing large, diverse structured or unstructured dataset
- Experience in multilingual based language model pretraining or fine tuning work
Wage Transparency
Based on legislation in Washington state the following details are for individuals who reside and would be working in Washington only: Washington pay range: $178,700 - $243,500 base salary
Based on legislation in California the following details are for individuals who reside and would be working in California only: California pay range: $201,500 - $280,400 base salary
This role is eligible for bonus, equity and benefits.
