How You Care for Our Patients

The Lead Intake Coordinator, under the supervision of the Chief Admissions Director, is responsible for facilitating the admission process, the intake staff and ensuring the directives set forth by the Chief Admissions Director are carried forward. As a member of the Intake and Admissions team the Lead Intake Coordinator is responsible for reviewing referrals based off the traffic light guidelines, be able to perform eligibility checks on insurances and obtain insurance pre-authorizations for those insurances that qualify as well as work in a fast-paced environment. The candidate must be able to multi-task and work independently as well as with a team. The Lead Intake Coordinator must be able to perform all the duties of a Mental Health Counselor, working up to a month in this role, alternating both roles, once completed, successful completion of both a mental health counselor and intake coordinator competency exam must be completed. The Lead Intake Coordinator is to keep the Chief admissions director updated minimally three times daily of the census, projected discharges and/or any issues affecting the department. The Lead Intake Coordinator is to have fulfilled all the requirements as an intake coordinator prior to being considered for promotion internally and/or hired externally must work as an MHC and intake coordinator as well as handle the duties of the Lead Intake Coordinator.

You Bring Meaningful Experience


Successful candidates will have the following:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mental Health, Human Services or related field is required
  • Prior experience in intake/admissions in a hospital setting is required
  • CPR certification required.
  • Previous psychiatric/substance inpatient experience preferred.
  • Previous Intake/Admissions experience strongly preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Behavior Health and Substance Abuse treatment modalities.
  • Ability to develop a therapeutic relationship while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Sufficient typing and computer skills to facilitate use of Electronic Medical Record.
  • Crisis management and time management skills.
  • Exhibit flexibility, creativity, and ability to manage stressful situations in a calm, organized and professional manner.
