About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for an additional Leading Hand to join our Kerry Team in Cam, near Dursley in Gloucestershire.
It is a full-time, permanent position with 4 days on 4 days off shift pattern. During periods of increased demand, voluntary overtime with increased pay is available.
Kerry Cam site is a well-established, small factory with about 35 employees. It is a regional centre for Gum Acacia production, which is used for global food, beverage, and pharmaceutical markets. The site has onsite parking, and it is located close to Cam & Dursley train station (less than 15 mins walk) and bus stops (2 mins walk).
Previous experience as Production Team Leader, Line Leader and similar is advantageous.

Key responsibilities
Leadership
- Implement and enforce Kerry Manufacturing Standards.
- Ensure that shift personnel conform to the required hygiene and H&S standards.
- Proactively support & participate in safety engagement.
- Follow site Environmental & Energy policies and taking measures to reduce energy usage where possible.
- Provide guidance and direction to shift operatives as required. Lead by example in following & promoting factory procedures and rules.
- Actively promote improvements in areas of processing and manufacturing.
- Attend daily site meetings & provide updates and reports on the manufacturing status of the plant. Act as the main communication channel between site management & shift operatives.
- Use of Intelex systems
- Promote and encourage food safety awareness & a zero tolerance approach to foreign material presence.
- In the case of plant or process non-conformances take all necessary steps (based on applied knowledge & experience) to rectify the situation where possible.
- During internal/external audits or visits provide guidance & support as required.
- Provide support with regards on-the–job training. Actively participate in all aspects of training.

Operational:
- Deliver shift plans. Oversee shift changeover. Provide agreed cover for operators.
- Manage inbound and outbound deliveries.
- Ensure adherence SAP requirements for raw materials, recipe processing & finished goods.
- Relate production data to KPI targets when possible and investigate reasons if deviating from standard.
- Carry out process on-line testing as required.
- Liaise with the site engineers for the notification, scheduling and completion of all required engineering tasks.
- Follow Return to Work procedures for operators.
- Carry out any additional task that is reasonably requested of them by management.
Qualifications and skills
Core Competencies:
- Team player with ability to lead others

- Good communicator both within production teams and cross functional site contacts
- Decision-making capabilities
- Clear understanding and strong demonstration of Health & Safety leadership
- Ability to train and instruct operators
- Numeracy and cost awareness
Qualifications:
- Good PC skills
- An understanding of general manufacturing procedures
- Experience using SAP or similar manufacturing programmes
- Food safety / HACCP basic level 2
- Basic Food Hygiene Certificate or relative experience in food manufacture
