Job Title: Lakeside High School Head Cross Country Coach

Work Location: Lakeside High School

Nature and Scope of Position: (1 or 2 sentence summary of position)

Requires an individual who has experience in coaching at the secondary and/or

college/club level. A high degree of knowledge of the sport is required. The

individual must obtain first aid/CPR and required WIAA clock hours.

Position Reports To: Mike McCune, Athletic Director and Brent Osborn, Principal

Season: Fall 2023/24

Salary: The salary range for the position is: Min.$3,740 Max.$5,780. Salary placement

will be at Step 0 of the Coaches Agreement unless documentation of experience is

received per the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The Collective Bargaining Agreement

and Salary Schedules can be reviewed from the Human Resources page of the Nine Mile

Falls School District www.9mile.org.

Primary Job Functions

1. Head Coach of the Cross-Country Coach
2. Maintains team discipline, WIAA standards, coaches individual

participants in skills necessary to achieve excellence in specified sport,

models and encourages good sportsmanship, explains eligibility

requirements and participation rules to athletes, maintains equipment

inventory/upkeep, schedules practices, oversees safety, record keeping as

necessary, and other duties as determined by the AD.

3. Responsible to lead a safe and effective Cross Country program for the
high school. The successful candidate will oversee and manage the

program to represent the school and community with integrity,

sportsmanship, and positive character traits.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Required Qualifications (Traits, Education, Experience, Training, physical

requirements, etc.):

1. First Aid/CPR Card
2. WSP/FBI Fingerprint Clearance
3. Able to meet WIAA Coaching Standards criteria
4. Successful experience in coaching Cross Country at the secondary,

collegiate, or club level.

5. Knowledge of effective and safe sport techniques.
6. Great sportsmanship, positive relationships, and effective communication

with students, families, and staff.

Desired Qualifications

1. Demonstrated ability to motivate and instruct young athletes.
2. Demonstrated ability to develop life-long character traits in students.
3. Demonstrated ability to maintain and build a highly successful sports

program.

5. Classified staff that would be in an overtime situation (more than 40 hours per week in
cumulative work hours) if they received this position, may not be eligible for this opening.

criminal history, including a fingerprint check by the Washington State Patrol and the Federal

Bureau of Investigation. Any offer of employment is contingent upon the successful outcome of

the criminal history background check and approval by the Nine Mile Falls School District Board

of Directors.
