Position Title: Licensed Clinical Supervisor

Reports to: Behavioral Health Clinical Director

Description/Summary of the Position: Provides strengths-based, trauma-informed, clinical, and administrative supervision and oversight to a team with varying backgrounds and skill levels, ranging from Bachelors’ level paraprofessionals to unlicensed and licensed Masters’ level staff who provide therapy and case management services.

Under the supervision of the Behavioral Health Clinical Director, Clinical Supervisor provides clinical and administrative supervision to professional mental health staff, and/or interns who conduct psychosocial assessment and treatment, crisis intervention and discharge planning within the context of a multi-disciplinary team. This position is responsible for the supervision and development of clinical staff.

The Clinical Supervisor is distinguished from the lower-level class of Mental Health Clinician in that the latter does not have supervisory responsibilities. It is further distinguished from the next higher class of Behavioral Health Clinical Director in that the latter may supervise a Clinical Supervisor and has overall responsibility for program planning, development and evaluation, program reporting and statistics, and program outcome monitoring.

Principle Responsibilities and Duties:

· Assists in planning, developing, and implementing mandatory and discretionary medical social work services

· Committee lead for departmental policies and procedures review, implementation, and compliance

· Trains, instructs, and evaluates unlicensed and licensed Masters’ level staff who provide therapy and case management services. and delegates work assignments

· Effectively communicates program, administrative, and clinical direction to clinical staff

· Discusses problem cases with clinical staff and makes suggestions and recommendations for follow up

· Confers with the Behavioral Health Clinical Director regarding human resources and work-related problems

· Provide support to clinical staff as needed during family meetings and case conferences

· Prepares data and related statistics as it pertains to the delivery of clinical services within the department

· Acts as a liaison between clinical service staff, personnel, and community agencies to support problem-solving and collaboration

· Responsible for identifying and executing quality improvement activities to improve workflow, access, client/staff experience, and clinical outcomes; utilizes LEAN and Daily Management techniques to achieve improvement goals

· Ensures departmental compliance with the California Board of Behavioral Health and regulatory standards

· Provides input to the development of the annual departmental budget; manages day-to-day operations to ensure the achievement of the department’s financial goals

· Assists in the formulation and implementation of departmental goals and yearly objectives

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities:

· Provides direct clinical supervision to Associate Master Family Therapy (AMFT), and Associate Clinical Social Workers (ASW) eligible for supervision of hours towards licensure and those who have completed their hours in preparation for licensure

· Conducts annual and probationary performance appraisals for assigned staff as assigned

· Assumes a leadership role on committees and at related departmental meetings

· Assists with oversight and coordination of the department’s University Internship Program

· Provides stand-in coverage as delegated by the Director of Social Services

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) or Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) required

License Required:

· Current license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).

· Must have a Nat'l Provider Identifier (NPI), or obtain an NPI, prior to employment start date.

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES Preferred (Ideal Candidate)

· Bilingual in Spanish is a must.

· Minimum two (2) years of post-license, paid experience as a member of a mental health treatment team in an outpatient setting/program under licensed supervision

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Demonstrate ability to effectively supervise a team, develop group cohesiveness, organizing work, delegating assignments, directing tasks and solving problems

· Leadership skills to motivate and inspire staff to improve child life services

· Interpersonal skills to work children and their families, and to collaborate effectively with clinicians across the Organization

· Ability to exercise professional judgment in handling sensitive and confidential issues

· Solid skills to quickly evaluate complex issues and identify resolutions in a multidisciplinary setting

· Assist with overseeing the daily operations of the department under the direction of the Behavioral Health Clinical Director

· Demonstrates ability to prioritize effectively to meet deadlines in a complex, challenging environment

· Solid organizational and customer service skills to structure unit operations and lead assigned staff in an efficient and effective manner

· Solid verbal and written communication skills to explain technical child development concepts, actively listen, persuade, advise, and counsel

· Advanced clinical skills with practical knowledge of psychotherapy theories, principles, and techniques; Federal, State, and local laws, and health care setting rules and regulations. LEAN Management and Active Daily Engagement Skills within 6 months of hire.

· Prior experience with electronic medical records required

· Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work.

· Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

· Proficiency in general office software including MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $79,000.00 per year
