Are you a strong swimmer? Do you have a strong work ethic and excellent communication skills? Do you enjoy being responsible and be able to provide supervision and safety of all in a pool environment with any available time weekdays evenings and Saturdays in which you would like to work? If so, the YMCA of Central Massachusetts, Tri-Community Branch is looking for you to join our amazing Aquatics Team!

We are currently seeking year round Lifeguards for our indoor pool. Typical hours vary – weekdays, evenings and Saturdays.

Requirements: Must have lifeguard certification and at least 16 years of age, Interested individuals are encouraged to submit resume/application with availability (list days and hours available) and please let us know how you heard of the position.

**Lifeguard Certification typically required; however, we offer the course at a discount as a part of being hired. In order to be hired, candidate must successfully complete the lifeguarding course.

Prerequisites for the course are as follows:

  • Be at least 16 years old.
  • Swim 300 yards, continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing.
  • Candidates may swim using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both, but swimming on the back or side is not allowed. Swim goggles may be used.
  • Tread water for 2 minutes, using only the legs.
  • Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds which involves starting in the water, swim 20 yards. Surface dive, feet-first or headfirst, to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object. Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back carrying the object with their face at or near the surface so they are able to get a breath and exit the water without using a ladder or steps.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 with access to facilities, Employee Assistance Program, and Sick Leave.
