The City of Delray Beach is a Non-Tobacco Workplace. The City will not consider applicants who have used tobacco or nicotine products for a period of at least three months prior to application for employment. The definition of "tobacco or nicotine products" includes but is not limited to, cigarettes, cigars, chewing tobacco, pipes, snuff, e-cigarettes and nicotine patches or gum.

This position is responsible for the general oversight of the Fire Rescue Department's equipment and supplies. Responsibilities include monitoring and issuing equipment and other department related supplies as well as basic facilities maintenance. Under the direction of the Logistics Captain, the Logistics Technician assists administrative personnel with the oversight and inventory of Department assets as needed.

Additionally, this position will provide support and assistance at functions/events as determined by the Fire Chief or designee.

Essential Job Duties

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• 
  Maintain and track inventory of firefighting, EMS, uniform, and personal protective equipment (PPE) items.
• Distribute fire rescue inventory, department-owned property, fixed assets, general equipment, and supplies to ensure operational readiness of the fire rescue department.
• Maintain an up-to-date inventory of all supplies and equipment.
• Assist in ordering supplies and equipment when needed.
• Conduct periodic inventory counts.
• Ensure proper security and storage of supplies and equipment.
• Troubleshoot, test, diagnose, adjust, repair, and service a variety of building components.
• Use hand and/or power tools.
• Perform preventative maintenance on related equipment and facilities.
• Perform other job functions as required.
• Perform all duties in compliance with the Palm Beach County Code of Ethics.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
Must be a high school graduate or have attained a GED or acceptable equivalency diploma. Must be 18 years of age or older. Must possess a valid State of Florida Class E Driver’s License and satisfactory driving record. Two (2) years of experience in logistic warehouse or similar. Experience in general building maintenance and repairs Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing in English using proper grammar, spelling and punctuation.

A comparable combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position, may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
