Machine Operator-Vinyl Extrusion Plant-Graveyard Shift
Job description
Milgard Windows and Doors is hiring a Machine Operator at our Vinyl Extrusion plant in Fife, WA. A Machine Operator operates 1, 2, or 3 PVC profile extrusion lines, ensuring the safety, housekeeping, quality control, and productivity of those lines are in compliance with company standards.
Graveyard Shift
Monday - Friday 10 pm - 6:30 am
$22 - $24 per hour plus a $1.50 shift differential

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. - Operate the machinery at optimum conditions conducive to product quality and productivity.
- Disassemble, clean, reassemble, shut down, start up, and change over extrusion tooling sets in a safe, timely, accurate manner. Use of overhead crane tools required.
- Perform quality control functions by visual inspection, to include taking fine measurements with calipers.
- Clean line with spray cleaners; sweep floors; wipe machinery; pick up clutter.
- Fill out and submit reports on productivity, quality control findings, machine, conditions, and tracking finished goods by using bundle tickets and work orders.
- Assist in packaging of the finished product as needed, to include some fork lift driving.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
GED or High School Diploma and six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and use calipers.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Forklift certification.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Excellent oral communication skills and interpersonal abilities.
Tolerance for stress and multi-problematic scenarios.

The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must lift and /or move up to 15 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock and vibration: Many electrical outlets and cables are present near large volumes of water in work area. Operators handle plug-ins of electric wire regularly.
The employee is frequently exposed to chemicals: The use of solvents and industrial degreasers are required occasionally to clean equipment and tools; the fumes occur when cleaning running parts.
Fumes from extrusion dies are present in concentrations requiring only adequate open-air ventilation during normal processing. In an unusual over heating condition, hydrogen chloride acidic vapor is produced and must be sensed by smell, and avoided.
The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud: The general noise level is at or above 87 db near the extruders, with saw spikes up to 102 db.
