Job Description:
This pool (on-call) position is a great opportunity for an individual who holds a Boilers License, and wants to work casually! This position will assist when other Engineers are out, or when additional assistance is needed.
Job Summary:
The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for all maintenance duties at all Hutchinson Health facilities.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Completes work orders that support the different Service Areas in work in a timely manner.
- Completes preventative maintenance on equipment and systems.
- Ensures efficiency and reliability of HVAC systems throughout all facilities. This includes a thorough understanding of the building automation system and control of all systems. Ensures testing and chemical controls in all heating and cooling systems. i.e. Boilers, cooling towers, etc.
- Responsible for operation, testing and maintenance of all Life Safety systems per industry standards
- Ensures chemicals are used appropriately and is familiar with MSDSs and how to respond to a hazmat incident.
- Performs maintenance of the security systems used by Hutchinson Health.
- Performs operations, testing and maintenance of all utility systems and equipment.
- Provides safe environment for all patients, residents, visitors and staff of Hutchinson Health.
- Shares workload by working variable shifts and “on call” in accordance to service area needs.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned.

- Reports any health/medical errors.
- Observes all Environment of Care policies and reports safety risks or hazards immediately.
Education, Training or Degree Required:
1. Trade school, college or related experience is preferred.
License/Registration/Certification Required: (will be primary source verified by HR)
1. First Class Boilers License or Special Class license with the ability to obtain a First Class C boilers license after apprenticeship time (3 years) is completed.
2. Must have a valid Class D Minnesota driver’s license.
Experience and Skills: (indicate preferred or required)
- Experience in a Health Care environment is preferred.
- Previous education in a related trade is preferred.
- Ability to work independently is required.
- Must be able to make decisions in stressful situation while using sound judgment.
