Summary:


Rehabilitation Therapies Serviced Manager needed for UNC Health Youth Behavioral Health (YBH), in Butner, North Carolina.

Youth Behavioral Health Hospital (YBH) is a 56-bed, 24-hour, locked psychiatric facility located in Butner, North Carolina. There will be four units dedicated to serving children and adolescents with mental health diagnoses, dual diagnoses, substance misuse and complex behaviors. YBH philosophy is grounded in a milieu-based, trauma-informed and therapeutic setting. This facility aims to serve patients with a complex history, including aggression and psychosis. Safety is a key component of the care provided as well as the introduction of positive coping skills, healthy living and positive leisure activities. Therapy services will work among a large interdisciplinary team including Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Social Workers, and Nursing Services.

The Rehabilitation Therapies department is seeking an independent, team-oriented Therapy Manager for its YBH Mental Health Therapy Team (clinical supervisor, activities therapy, art therapy, child life specialist, music therapy, occupational therapy, recreational therapy, and yoga therapy). Qualified candidates will be familiar with inpatient mental health service provision. Flexibility, effective communication skills, and a desire to work with a broad variety of stakeholders such as patients, caregivers, providers, donor groups and family advisors is essential. Collaboration with the assistant director in establishing systems, goals, and reviewing outcomes is a key part of this position. Responsibilities include fostering staff development, conducting annual performance reviews, directing day-to-day operations, oversight of fiscal management, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, participation in quality improvement initiatives to address patient safety, quality targets, risk/mitigation strategies, and participation with professional education program

Highly Preferred:
Preferable to have previous work experience with hospital-based mental health care, child and adolescent populations, and formal leadership responsibilities

This position manages the staff and program in a specialty area of therapy services such as speech, physical therapy, occupational therapy and or Recreation and Child Life Therapist. The manager is responsible for staff supervision and development, budget projection and monitoring, and program development and improvement. In addition to these supervisory responsibilities, the position may also has clinical duties.


Responsibilities:
1. Quality & Compliance - Leads continuous quality improvement efforts in conjunction with the department Assistant Director. Helps ensures compliance with regulatory requirements related to Therapy Services, TJC and Health Care System policies. Develops appropriate departmental policies and procedures oversees team auditing requirements. Ensures best practices for various team roles.
2. Goals/Outcomes Management - Collaborates with Assistant Director to establish goals for the team that are congruent with hospital and departmental goals. Reviews performance to ensure staff is meeting or exceeding target outcome goals. Assists the Assistant Director in ensuring the collecting, analyzing, evaluating, measuring, and presenting of clinical care management operational data. Uses data to take corrective action as needed to benefit the team, department, and/or institution.
3. Communication - Provides regular communication to staff by leading, participating in, and/or overseeing team meetings and team building activities. Participates in committees promoting effective communication between Therapy Services and other clinical areas. Role models and leads staff in supporting departmental and institutional expectations in customer service excellence. Develops and maintains positive relationships with key individuals in other hospital departments to enhance team processes.
4. Fiscal Management - Makes team budget recommendations and projections to Assistant Director. Monitors approved budget versus actual expenditures to reconcile as needed to achieve cost effective use of resources. Oversees tracking and trending of team productivity statistics regularly reports team productivity measures to Assistant Director.
5. Assists Assistant Director in establishing systems, processes and education that will improve internal and external customer satisfaction and positive results for the team, department, and institution.
6. Personnel Management - Manages personnel functions for designated Rehabilitation Services team staff. Interviews and selects candidates for hiring, coordinates orientation for new staff, develops work plans, conducts performance reviews, recommends compensation, and conducts disciplinary action using hospital and departmental personnel guidelines.

Education Requirements:
  • Graduation from an accredited school in the field of Rehabilitation Services with a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, Masters level or greater preferred.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
  • Licensed to provide care in rehabilitation related field in the state of North Carolina.
Professional Experience Requirements:
  • Five (5) years of experience of clinical experience, at least (1) year in a role with progressive leadership responsibilities
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
  • Understands and applies principles, procedures, requirements, regulations, and policies related to care provided in Rehabilitation Services.
