The manager of the Software Products group is responsible for leading the company’s software development team supporting current and next generation software products. This includes Windows PC based applications used to automate data acquisition and processing systems in the microwave test industry. The software functionality includes Graphical User Interface (GUI), database, algorithms, analysis, low level instrumentation drivers, plotting and graphing routines and real-time servo control. The products, when integrated, form an automated electro-mechanical test system typically used for applications such as Antenna Measurement Ranges, RCS Test Ranges, and Radome Test Ranges.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Includes the following and other duties as assigned.

• Leading the software development team in new product development
• Maintain a technology roadmap for software products
• Development of new software on R&D and projects
• Work closely with senior management on R&D roadmap and funding of software products
• Manage software development within budget and on schedule
• Manage sustaining engineering on existing software products
• Improving, implementing and maintaining effective software design processes resulting in quality products and documentation
• Resource planning and allocation of work skills based on project needs
• Development and training of team members
• Administrative duties

This position may require occasional travel domestic and international.

Required Skills:

• Leadership
• Experience in developing and delivering microwave test systems
• Experience with data acquisition and data processing of antenna test systems
• Development of deliverable software
• Experience integrating scientific computing applications
• Software programming experience
• Software configuration control and documentation
• Application development experience under the Windows operating systems
• Experience writing code in VB6, VB.Net, Visual C++ and/or Visual C# programming languages
• Experience with configuration control systems
• Good oral and written communications skills
• Multi-disciplinary development team experience
• Product development experience with test instrumentation products such as network and spectrum analyzers, RF signal sources, power meters, etc.

Desirable skills:

• Knowledge of antenna measurement & uncertainty analysis
• NF/FF & DSP algorithm analysis and design
• FPGA detailed design and program experience
• Proficiency with using general laboratory test equipment such as oscilloscopes, network and logic analyzers
• Electrical engineering and design knowledge
• Management experience as a team lead

Desirable Past Experience Design skills:

• Advanced mathematical algorithm implementation and/or development
  • Adept with complex numbers
  • Able to write and/or read MATLAB code
  • Data fitting
  • Kinematics / coordinate rotations
  • Interpolations
• Writing software that interfaces to hardware

Experience Level: 8 years minimum

Education Level: Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science (Required)

Masters Electrical Engineering or Computer Science (Preferred)
