The Job
As a Shift Supervisor, you'll be part of our Industrial team located in Chesterfield, MI. You will be a leader supporting the plastics site and team in planning and driving plant execution. The role's focus will be leading all shift-related activities related to employee supervision and guidance, including all equipment, material, and production. This position requires an excellent understanding of the plastic injection molding process. You'll also get to:

• Maintain production records for production counts and standard hours.
• Enforce safe working environments and activities.
• Supervise all employees in the manufacturing and assembly area.
• Own responsibility for plant security.
• Recommend disciplinary action for all production personnel.
• Responsible for adhering/enforcing all company rules: UAW contract, TS16949, Quality guidelines, and HR published procedures.
• Own responsibility for production runs, proper die-setting procedures, quality of product, and maximizing the production area's full potential.
• Report immediately to the Plant Manager any difficulties arising due to conditions of machines or employee actions.
• Responsible for backing up Process Technicians and all required duties if a situation arises.
• Sets up and assign personnel to specific jobs according to scheduling requirements.
• Ensure availability of component parts and supplies.
• Ensure proper installation of safety equipment and that safety regulations are adhered to.
• Troubleshoot manufacturing and assembly problems and rectify them accordingly.

• Ensures that housekeeping is maintained within the assigned area of responsibility.
• Analyze and submit operational and/or cost savings recommendations as feasible.
• Maintain efficiency levels at an optimum level and explain deviations from expected levels.
• Responsible for continuous improvement within the department.
• Provide prompt, accurate documentation of machine, material, or tooling problems to the appropriate functional area for resolution.
• Takes a proactive approach to ensure the working/processing environment always meets the level of expectations and reports discrepancies, i.e., housekeeping, machine condition, material, tooling, and personnel competence.

The Person

• Associate degree.

• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in plastic injection molding plant or related.
• At least one (1) year of direct supervisory experience.
• At least one (1) year of experience in mold set-up, troubleshooting, exposure to maintenance problems, and familiarity with state-of-the-art controls and engineering resins.

• Knowledge of plastic material properties/processes, and statistical methods preferred.
• Specialized foreman training and management courses preferred.
• Formal RJG training preferred.

• Ability to work a full-time flexible schedule, including some early morning, overnight and weekend shifts, to work overtime as needed, and to respond to urgent issues at the plant when they arise.
