Job description
We are currently accepting applications for a part-time Massage Therapist. This position will work 3 days per week with end of day hours at 5:30-6:00pm for at least two of the days.
This is a professional position involving responsibility for performing massage therapy assessments and treatments to patients in accordance with accepted practice.
MAJOR TASKS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provides massage services to Jones Memorial Hospital clients; provides safe, appropriate and effective massage techniques.
2. Performs health history on clients and updates prior to each session; ascertains precautions/contraindications for massage prior to each session.
3. Explains procedures and applies techniques appropriate to client needs and preferences.
4. Observes client reaction to massage and modifies as necessary. Solicits feedback and responds accordingly.
5. Documents all sessions performed according to established guidelines.
6. Maintains client confidentiality and sensitivity to age and gender related issues during all client interactions; reports any unusual client interactions to supervisor immediately.
7. Responsible for scheduling and maintenance of appointments; assists in collection of fees.
8. Consults with appropriate treatment staff regarding treatment plans when necessary.
9. Provides massage orientation services, education seminars and markets massage services upon request.
10. Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
11. When Staffing needs dictate, may work an alternate schedule. Employees scheduled on call must report within 30 minutes of receiving a call.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
EDUCATION: Graduate of an approved School of Massage Therapy and current license to practice Massage Therapy in New York State.
EXPERIENCE: Three months.
