Peoplelink Staffing Solutions is seeking a material handler in partnership with a prominent client in Owego/Candor, NY within the lumber mill industry. This facility is working in an enclosed mill, indoors with cooling fans and heaters.
Pay: $17.00 per hour
Shift: Monday – Friday 6am – 4:30pm
Stacks lumber on kiln cars, in the mill, performing any combination of following tasks.
· Places lumber piece by piece in layers, leaving space between edges of adjacent pieces.
· Places sticks between layers as stack rises to permit circulation of air bind stack together.
· Stands on ground hands lumber to another worker on top of stack.
· Places blocks against wheels of loaded kiln car in dry kiln to prevent movement of car.
· Unloads lumber from stacks or kiln cars.
· Loads unloads stacking machine, working in teamwork with other workers
· May attach identity card to stacks of lumber record number of stacks by species for supervisor.
Material Handler Job Requirements
· High School Diploma/GED
· Stand 8+ hours a day
· Lift 50 pounds frequently
· Must be able to work in warm temperatures during the summer and 50–60-degree weather during the winter
