POSITION SUMMARY:

The Telemetry Technician is responsible for understanding and monitoring rhythms of all patient placed on telemetry.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintains function of Telemetry Unit.

Monitors rhythms scopes at all times.

Documents with date and time, and reports to the Charge Nurse on shift any arrhythmia episode.

Rhythms will be recorded and mounted every 2 hours.

Maintains a log of patients on telemetry with admission and discharge dates.

Initiates Telemetry with doctor=s order.

Places electrodes on patients according to procedure Lead II.

Charges batteries when necessary.

Removes Batteries when units are not in use; stores in a clean and dry place.

Keeps monitoring unit=s alarm on at all times.

Keeps monitors on record mode at all times when in use.

Follows all safety standards in relation to patient care, lifting and protection from environmental hazards.

Reports all injuries and unsafe practice to immediate supervisor. Reports all safety hazards to the safety committee.

Demonstrates ability to carry out all assignments and procedures as offered according to policy and procedure manual.

Manages and operates equipments safely and efficiently.

Demonstrates team approaches, gives sense of helping others.

Uses time effectively.

Demonstrates awareness of the need for respecting the dignity and privacy of others.

Participates in hospital=s Performance Improvement, safety and infection control studies as assigned.

Occasionally may require overtime.

Performs other assigned duties as required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to carry out oral and written instructions, and understand technical information from supervisors, charts, reference books, manuals and labels.

Uses personal judgment and specialized knowledge to give information to people.

Communicates well. Speaks clearly and listens carefully.

Adheres to policy and procedures as set forth by the hospital.

Maintains confidentiality of patient information.

Work fast in an emergency.

Record information accurately.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Light Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Requires walking or standing to a significant degree, or requires sitting most of the time.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

Inside: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Works in air conditioned, well-lighted environment.

REASONING DEVELOPMENT:

Apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

MATHEMATICAL DEVELOPMENT:

Add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure.

LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT:

Reading:Read and understand instructions.

Writing:Write reports with proper format, punctuation, spelling and grammar using all parts of speech.

Speaking:Speak with poise, authority, voice control, confidence and respect using correct English in a well-modulated voice.

RELATIONSHIPS TO DATA, PEOPLE AND THINGS:

Data:Coordinating: Determining time, place and sequence of operations or actions to be taken on the basis of analysis of data; executing determination of and/or reporting on events.

People:Maintaining harmonious relations among coworkers and promoting communication.

Things:Handling: Using body members, hand tools, and/or special devices to work, move or carry objects or material.

QUALIFICATION:

Education:

Must be High School graduate

- Must have Telemetry course, EKG certified

Current CPR certification required.

Medical Assistant Certificate

Experience and Training: Six months to one year prior training and experience in all aspect of Telemetry services and on the Job training for operating Telemetry equipment's and practice.
