Job description
Detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist with at least 3+ years of experience managing medical insurance claims. Communicates with patients regarding account balances and claim status.
Should be responsible for the timely follow-up and collection efforts on outstanding receivable accounts that are billed to insurance companies, managed care entities, government programs, and other liable third parties. Responsibilities include reviewing accounts to determine patient eligibility for various forms of coverage, determine the merit of collection efforts, review aged accounts, trace and appeal unpaid and/or erroneously paid or denied accounts.
Should be responsible for managing billing and claims department. Identify medical coding procedure or fee errors and omissions, making necessary adjustments to patient accounts dependent on negotiated rates. Provide insurance companies with additional documentation or records (if requested) to expedite payments and resolve denials.
Accurately interpret EOBs, Need EOB knowledge. Contacted insurance companies regarding unpaid claims or denials and provided the payer with the required information to expedite approval and payment. Receive and sort payments and invoices by paying attention to their credibility. Ascertain that the status of accounts and balances and identify any issues such as discrepancies and inconsistencies.
Oversee the issuance of bills, receipts and invoices and ensure that any problems are identified and resolved immediately. Follow-up on submitted claims to ensure that they are paid on time and make sure that any denied claims are resubmitted on time. Look through delinquent accounts to determine outstanding payments and follow up with clients/patients to ensure that they are paid on time. Oversee the work of medical billing clerks to ensure that posting and data entry duties are managed appropriately. Identify and resolve patient billing problems and complaints by investigating issues and ensuring that they do not occur again.
