Job Summary:
The Integrated Missile Defense Program Area Directorate is seeking a Program Director to lead the Raytheon portion of the Missile Defense National Team. The National Team Program Director will be responsible for technically leading a diverse group of senior level engineers to develop an array of System Engineering artifacts that are delivered to our MDA customer to drive expanding Missile Defense System capabilities.
The Individual will be expected to optimize performance and execution, integrating and de-conflicting complex schedules across a challenging spectrum of diverse set of requirements from other program MDS Elements, contracts, and customers. The Raytheon National Team Director will collaborate with the senior VP of Boeing, NT-E leadership Team and Raytheon Leadership to execute the mission of the National Team. Coordinating, managing and safeguarding NT-E reach back requests for technical and sometimes proprietary data is a primary responsibility.
The Missile Defense National Team is a multi-defense contractor think tank, entrusted with advancing capabilities of missile defense system. The team consists of Tier 1 Prime contractor developers of Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Boeing and General Dynamics plus a mix of expertise from local area small business contributors.
This position is based in Huntsville, Alabama at the Boeing Jetplex working primarily in Closed Secure Rooms and requires some domestic travel.
Responsibilities to Anticipate:
- Program planning, program execution, product costing, problem resolution and decision making, R&O management, financial execution to budget, staffing, personnel development, product technical roadmap, and customer relationship.
- Establish and maintain an integrated execution schedule for all work.
- Manage product configurations.
- Ensure performance to technical, cost, schedule, and quality requirements.
- Drive affordability and continuous improvement.
- Ensure Raytheon and Raytheon employees are protected from Organizational Conflict of Interest areas.
- Support of new business pursuits, solutions and acquisition strategies.
- Ability to collaborate with a complex matrixed functional team.
- Manages the program risk and opportunity, in accordance with specific financial goals and obligations.
- Execute daily program cadence i.e., risk review boards, customer reviews, failure review boards, program milestones, monitoring procurements/shortages against contractual needs and working mitigation(s) and decision reviews to achieve contract commitments, Organizational Conflict of Interest (OCI) Reviews.
- Develops relationships with the various defense contractors in order to manage and prioritize the work that is being executed.
- Capture staffing projections and work with Control Account Managers (CAMs) to meet program goals and timelines.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Bachelor’s degree and 14 years relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 12 years’ experience
- Program leadership or similar operations leadership in managing technical, cost, schedule, and requirements
- Defense, aerospace or similar regulated industry experience
- An active and in-scope Secret US security clearance
Qualifications We Value:
- Rich background in Systems Engineering and Analysis including system performance analysis and System Level Requirements Development
- Experience in aspects of the Missile Defense System (e.g., Aegis Weapons Systems, Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD), Fire Control (FOM, GFC), C2BMC, BMDS sensors (EO/IR/RF), kill vehicles, interceptors, countermeasures, counter-countermeasures, or threats)
- Experience in any of the following domains: system concept trade studies, requirements analysis, feasibility analysis, system performance measures of effectiveness analysis, EO/IR sensors, RF/Radar sensors, missiles/interceptors, ICBM / hypersonic / MRM / SRM threats, detection/tracking, or Command and Control (e.g., C3I, C4I, etc.)
- Good communication skills and demonstrated experience leading a team of talented engineers to perform highly technical work, and communicating significant results to senior management, executives, and government personnel.
- Experience building and leading high performing geographically diverse teams
- Exceptional communication, writing and presentation skills
- A demonstrated understanding of sustainment and production
- Strong business acumen to proactively identify and resolve issues efficiently
- Ability to operate independently to navigate organizational complexities and to obtain resources (through influence) to move initiatives forward
- Demonstrated skills in planning and execution for both short-term requirements and long-term opportunities
- Strong interpersonal skills with special focus on achieving active participation of appropriate individuals across the business
