Operations Execution Manager - BWX Technologies - Barberton, Ohio
The position of Execution Engineering Manager is available for the Nuclear Operations Group facility in Barberton, Ohio. The Execution Engineering Manager is responsible for managing and facilitating schedule recovery on near term delivery challenges and longer-term production challenges and bottlenecks. The Execution Engineering Manager will be required to engage operations and engineering to facilitate execution of the manufacturing plans. The manager will supervise salary employees involved in improving scheduling performance, process improvement and manufacturing data analysis.
General Profile
- Supervises engineers and other salary resources involved in schedule recovery, process improvement and manufacturing data analysis.
- Is accountable for the schedule performance of the assigned components, while still controlling costs on each component.
- Requires in-depth understanding of concepts, theories and principles in manufacturing engineering and basic knowledge of shop floor front line management and other disciplines
- Adapts departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges
- Must be able to work across department and organizational boundary and facilitate cooperation and coordination among diverse stakeholders
- Decisions are guided by policies, procedures and business plan; receives guidance from manager
- Identifies and resolves technical, operational and organizational problems that impact effectiveness
- Applies understanding of the industry to improve effectiveness, provide guidance and influence processes and policies
- Impacts the level of service and the team’s ability to meet quality and timeliness objectives
- Works constructively with professional employees and/or supervisors/superintendent
Essential Functions
- Supervise direct reports involved in schedule recovery, process improvement and data analysis
- Track and measure schedule performance for multiple product lines, to include focus on near term delivery challenges and longer-term production challenges and bottlenecks
- Develop metrics to improve schedule performance and improve operational performance
- Engage with operations and engineering to facilitate execution of the manufacturing plans.
- Plan for future operations and verify operation and engineering readiness.
- Collaborate with Operations and Tooling Engineering to verify required tools are available for critical operations
- Manage the development of tools to facilitate communication between operations and engineering
- Communicate and track backshift and weekend work that needs completed
- Identify operations with poor efficiency and resolve issues leading to the inefficiency
- Communicate efficiency trends and changes to meet operational goals.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- Requires Bachelor's degree or technical school equivalent
- 5 years of technical experience in a related area.
- Prior experience with manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering or shop floor supervision desired.
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience with developing, delivering, and maintaining training activities.
- Excellent organization and program management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel is desired.
