GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

Greenfield Community College has the honor of being one of the first community colleges in the country to have a food pantry for students. Reporting to the Dean of Students, Food Security Special Program Coordinator has direct oversight for planning, coordinating, implementing and assessing of campus-wide programs and services designed to increase food security of GCC students. The person in this role will coordinate all logistics of the food pantry, including promotion/awareness, schedules, training and supervising work study employees, maintenance, safety/compliance, stocking and inventory, budget management, intake forms, and assessment.

Responsibilities include coordinating The Corner Market, GCC's food pantry, and informational and referral coordination for on and off campus resources. The Coordinator is responsible for education and outreach to students, faculty and staff, and community partners. The Coordinator develops and maintains relationships with campus and community partners in an effort to provide comprehensive and cohesive services, information, and programs to GCC students. This position provides the link between Greenfield Community College students and the local organizations/agencies that address food security needs and will build transformational relationships with students struggling with food security, while also providing resources, information, referrals, and connections for students with a variety of internal and external partners.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

Coordinate the operations of the campus food pantry including:

  • Budget management,
  • Inventory control,
  • Data collection and analysis for annual reporting and grant management,
  • Coordinate work study student employees,
  • Create and maintain an operational manual for the Food Pantry and related activities.

Serve as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for students facing food insecurity, with the goal of removing food insecurity as a barrier to achieving educational, cultural, emotional and economic growth and success.

Design and lead food security strategy to be responsive to student needs and ameliorate the impact of food insecurity on student success, including:

  • Facilitate formal and informal events to raise awareness about the prevalence and considerations of food and housing insecurity, and to destigmatize conversations about these topics. This may include classroom visits, professional development sessions, tabling events, and workshops, and presentations, including coordinating regular community meals,
  • Conduct regular assessment of services/programs, including student needs assessment, program efficiency and effectiveness, and student outcomes. Assessment will be both formal and informal, and may include surveys, intake/out-take forms, qualitative and quantitative data, feedback sessions, etc.

Coordinate with other department on campus:

  • Coordinator of the Women's Resource Center for other basic needs support,
  • Liaise with GCC Foundation to support donor relationships.
  • Collaborate with the Grants Office to explore external funding opportunities to support food security resources and programming,
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Department to create materials that communicate about on-campus and community resources for food needs.

Collaborate with local and regional partners, including the student basic needs ambassador.

  • Serve as a single point of contact for The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts partnership. Coordinate food pantry reporting and data collection.
  • Maintain current knowledge of the programs and services of the Department of Transitional Assistance to alert students to the availability of SNAP benefits. Provide additional community resources for SNAP-related support.

Serve on college-wide and community committees as appropriate.


Job Requirements:


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Business Administration, or other field related to area of assignment
  • Three (3) years' experience in related field (includes educational and internship experience)
  • Ability use technology to track and analyze data, produce reports, and design presentations
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse faculty, staff and training program participants.
  • Understanding of the barriers faced by low income and diverse populations.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects, adhere to deadlines
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills;

Additional Information:


SALARY:
$30.03 per hour, working 30 hours per week for 44 weeks during the academic year and 18.75 hours per week for 8 weeks during the summer, with the majority of vacation time expected to be scheduled and approved for the summer months.

This position is a grant funded position.

START DATE: April 2023 or ASAP thereafter
