The Citizen Science Lab is a non-profit hands-on laboratory where inquisitive minds and science enthusiasts can explore the life sciences. We are open to everyone to observe and analyze through discovery-based STEM enrichment. TCSL serves the Pittsburgh region with extracurricular enrichment support via homeschool and weekend workshops, after school programs, summer camps, lab memberships, birthday parties, and other events.
Type: Part time or Internship- 10 to 20 flexible hours week start in May 2023
Pay: $15 an hour
FLSA: Non- Exempt
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Assistant to the Grants and Communications Manager job/internship is responsible for a variety of administrative, logistical, and customer service tasks that support the daily functions of The Citizen Science Lab’s fundraising effort. The ideal candidate will carry out job duties with an emphasis on attention to detail, cultural humility, respect for sensitive information and confidentiality, and have an ability to complete tasks with minimal oversight and a high level of independence. This individual will be able to take direction primarily from the Grants and Communications Manager, with occasional tasks delegated by the CEO.
o Conduct research, assess match for available grants
o Assist with the creation and assembling of grant requests
o Maintain donor aspects of CRM (data management system)
o Work closely with the Grants and Communications Manager to assist in writing grants
o Draft letters to donors and submit grant proposals
o Maintain clear and effective communication with fundraising team
o Assist in calling or scheduling calls to potential individual donors or foundations
o Provide administrative support as needed
o Assist with increasing visibility of TCSL’s major gifts/membership program
o Employee may perform other duties, as assigned
Education and Experience:
● Can be pursuing a degree in English, nonprofit administration, marketing or related fields
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills
● Experience with non-profit organizations preferred
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
● Valid PA driver's license and reliable access to a car is strongly preferred for traveling to and from sites
● Must be able to multitask and complete numerous projects simultaneously with frequent interruption
● Reliable when working independently and collaboratively
● Ability to obtain current PA Act 33/34 Clearances and FBI Fingerprint Background Check
● Adaptable to flexible work hours and environment with evolving program priorities

Physical / Mental Characteristics
● Ability to lift 5-10 lbs., stand, carry, climb, sit for long periods using accepted ergonomic principles, work in confined space
● Ability to perform fine motor skills
● Ability to use a computer for entering or retrieving data
