Job Summary
Under general supervision, operates microfilm cameras, digital sheet feed scanners and computer scanning software by performing the following duties.
Job Description
Essential Job Functions
  • Microfilm and scan county records.
  • Prepare incoming documents for microfilming or scanning, which include purging files, organizing the documents in the correct order, identify camera/scanner malfunctions and perform minor repairs.
  • Assume duties of county courier or mailroom delivery courier in their absence, which includes delivering county mail, forms, Office supplies, priority mail, and copier paper.
  • Assist the print shop bindery with competing jobs; collating, punching and binding material.
  • Assist in processing election ballots and precinct booklets.
  • Assist the graphics department with lamination jobs.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Skilled in using microfilm cameras; in using digital feed scanners; and in using computer scanning software.

Knowledge of the basic rules of filing documents; of the daily maintenance and minor repair of cameras and scanners; of postal regulations and methods of handling, distribution of incoming mail and processing outgoing mail; and of the various locations of the county Offices and facilities;

Ability to deal tactfully with others; to understand and follow oral and written instructions; to do work accurately and efficiently; to make timely deliveries of county mail, forms, Office supplies, priority mail and copier paper;

Computer Skills
None required.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or GED; and six months satisfactory full-time paid employment in records management including microfilming, digital scanning, records archiving or a related position.

Language Skills
Ability to read a limited number of two-and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

County Driver’s License
