Payroll Manager

Behavior Frontiers, LLC is a leading agency providing applied behavior analysis (ABA) treatment to help children with autism and other special needs to reach their full potential. Our expert team of Board-Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) and highly trained behavior instructors use state-of-the-art ABA methods to teach children social, communication, play, cognitive, and self-care skills, while reducing problem behaviors. We are seeking energetic and career-minded individuals to join our team. We are currently looking to hire a full-time Payroll Manager to support the payroll department.

About the Role

We are currently looking to hire a full-time Payroll Manager to support the HR and Accounting departments at our headquarters in El Segundo, CA. Responsible for overseeing the processing of company payroll as well as Time and Attendance. Ensuring accurate calculation of wages, tax withholdings, and company deductions. Ensuring governmental reporting and compliance. Supervising the payroll team.

Salary Range: $65-80k

Job Responsibilities:

Payroll:

  • Processing bi-weekly payroll for both exempt and non-exempt employees across 15+ states
  • Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely Validating payroll file to ensure accuracy and timeliness of payroll processing.
  • Update payroll file for terminated employees, prior period timesheet corrections, etc.
  • Processing final paychecks for terminations
  • Addressing stop payment, direct deposit return and other employee paycheck questions
  • Setting up new states in the system
  • Process 401k bi-weekly funding and address any file errors as needed
  • Address 401k and workers compensation external and internal audits
  • Responding to EDD correspondence
  • Monitor changes and remain current on legal, regulatory, or governmental requirements (e.g., wage and hour, garnishments, tax matters, 401(k), etc.)
  • Reconcile, update, and monitor base compensation for promotions, raises, and transfers
  • Maintain minimum wage spreadsheet and update as necessary in the HR/payroll system
  • Receive and document necessary approvals prior to processing any non-standard payments
  • Oversees the preparation of required reports or payments to government agencies, insurance companies, or other organizations.
  • Review and maintain weekly quarterly, and yearly reports (941s, 940s, etc.)
  • Process accurate and timely year-end reporting (W-2, W-2c, etc.)

Time & Attendance:

  • Oversee the time & attendance workflow and review process, performing audits, as necessary
  • Managing employee timesheet follow up/correspondence/reminder email templates
  • Ensure timesheets are being submitted and processed accurately and timely
  • Maintaining timesheet late submission/errors tracking log and distributing it bi-weekly
  • Working with departments to address timesheet/session issues
  • Assisting timesheet reviewers with addressing employee timesheet issues as needed
  • Maintaining timesheet email inbox and ensure emails/calls are being addressed in a timely manner
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience calculating and processing in-house payroll
  • Prior supervisor experience preferred
  • Experience in high volume payroll processing (1000+employees)
  • Prior experience with HR/Payroll ERP, time-tracking systems required (general ledger system experience preferred)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Intermediate Excel knowledge
  • Base knowledge of applicable Federal and State HR/Payroll Laws (FMLA, FLSA, e.g.) and IRS regulations that impact payroll
  • Excellent processing skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Must be detail-oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment
