As a Piping Engineer in the global customer operations organization, the role will work on large scale gas turbine projects supporting the global energy transition. The position will work as part of a motivated team of engineers designing piping systems directly around the gas turbines in the Siemens Energy portfolio. The Engineer will collaborate with project teams during product development, bidding and project execution by developing piping solutions which best support our customers. The modern tools being used by the Piping Engineer will allow for efficient 3D design and drafting as well as pipe stress and structural analysis.

How You’ll Make an Impact
- Responsible for issuing piping drawings for project specific applications.
- Perform pipe stress analysis and pipe support calculations in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
- Review, control and own 3D piping models and find cost effective piping solutions.
- Perform design reviews and carry out resolution of action items.
- Write technical specifications for piping and piping components.
- Collaborate with various other teams and groups at all levels.
- Provide engineering assistance to plant construction and start-up.
- Coordinate with piping fabricators and piping insulation vendors.
- Participate in vendor surveillance program and assist supplier quality control.
- Specify heat tracing requirements and work directly with heat tracing vendors.
- Review and control cost models and cost reduction initiatives.
- Provide training and guidance to junior engineers.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Master’s degree preferred.
- 3+ years of applicable background; experience in performing pipe stress analysis by using PC based computer program, preferably Bentley AUTOPIPE.
- Experience with ASME B31.1, ASME B16.5, AISC, ACI, and AWS.
- Proficient with using Microsoft Office.
- Experience in performing hand calculations for pipe supports. These calculations include but not limited to qualification of structural members, weld sizing, base plate qualification, anchor bolt evaluation, spring hangers, etc.
- Exposure to pipe fabrication requirements and material selections.
- Hands-on experience in selecting pipe insulation materials and performing pipe insulation thickness calculations based on thermal conductivity and ambient conditions.
- Experience with writing technical white papers supporting product development.
- Experience with codes and standards to perform seismic calculations and impact of wind as needed.
- Familiarity with welding processes and NDE requirements.
- Familiarity with Heat Tracing is desirable. Understanding of Bentley Open Plant and ProjectWise Navigator is desirable.
- Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
