POSITION PURPOSE

Review and re-engineer processes throughout the organization to maximize efficiency and effectiveness and to develop innovative solutions and new approaches to business processes to determine the sequence of steps or processes required to meet the organization's standards of quality and cost. Analyze more complex process specifications, process flows, and other engineering data to develop new production processes, estimate time requirements for each step, and prepares necessary documentation to justify conclusions. Analyze existing production processes and develop recommendations for changes to working methods or operation sequences that will minimize risks, costs, and wastage; increase yields and productivity; and improve the quality and consistency of final products. Advise other employees on matters under development where necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor's in Process Engineering or related engineering field required
  • Four years of related experience can be used in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.

Work Experience

  • 3 years of experience in process engineering field, demonstrating a thorough knowledge of the complex nature of field to include the current practices and standards applied required
  • Experience and/or knowledge of the health care industry and the regulatory requirements associated with business processes is preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Creative problem-solving mindset with business acumen to aid teams in obtaining ideas, and lead through development and execution.
  • Ability to negotiate and work with external experts regarding technical aspects of projects.
  • Strong presentation, collaboration, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects and/or leading a professional level team preferred.
  • Experience interacting with leaders at all levels including those in executive/officer positions.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in the ability to design, develop and implement business processes that had a positive impact on efficiencies and cost reduction.
  • Proven expertise in engaging industry stakeholders in collaborative discussions to deliver industry leading practices.

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Define and lead the process engineering function from concept, design, planning, execution, testing and roll-out. Create a discipline to manage the activities that will drive Executive confidence in the future business processes the company will rely upon. Deeply understand the capabilities of the current business model and design and engineer processes that drive cost reduction, improved quality and reliability. Coordinate with business units and external partners to source and vet ideas for areas such as new products, market partnerships, and operational improvements with a structured multi-step evaluation.
  • Facilitate process innovation and critical thinking collaboration skills in the organization through a well defined discipline. Advocate the value of understanding the market landscape, developing a robust portfolio of future process opportunities spanning the organization and leading the corporate business engineering process to meet the organizations goals. Rigorously screen and test process enhancement concepts through a multi-step process that has a high focus on corporate standards and in collaboration with key stakeholders. Utilize internal and external resources to find new sources of ideas, technical innovation solutions, and obtain new process innovation tools and best practices. Recommended criteria: customer need, strategic alignment, market potential, risk mitigation, execution, feasibility and internal commitment. With a strong consideration that we must work with a range of external stakeholders to identify and test investments that meet their missions.
  • Responsible for effective communications to engage and inform various stakeholders on process engineering and innovation that enable the success of the strategic mission, vision and priorities of all partners.
  • Responsible for partnering with the appropriate industry experts to provide an external perspective to process engineering. Ensure value is derived from all vendors under contract. Create and foster on-going strategic relationships with regional and national health care industry thoughtleaders and experts to ensure that BCBSLA’s intelligence is timely, accurate and forward thinking. Utilize national healthcare and industry trends and competitive intelligence to position BCBSLA to make informed, effective decisions regarding strategic direction and development.
