Spring Co-op Program: January 10, 2023 - June 23, 2023


The Sensor Operations team is focused on rapidly developing and deploying the manufacturing equipment and processes supporting the production ramp of our fiber optic pressure sensor used in the next generation of percutaneously implanted cardiac pumps. Our process engineers are engaged in the development and qualification of production equipment, fixtures and processes specifically associated with:

  • Fiber optic cable assemblies
  • Optical pressure sensor to optical fiber alignment
  • Optical pressure sensor testing and calibration
  • Optoelectronic pressure sensor interface manufacturing and test


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The student will:

  • Assist in the procurement, build and qualification of a 3 axis high precision optical pressure sensor to optical fiber alignment and assembly station
  • Build and conduct gage R&R engineering tests for multiple optical pressure sensor test stations
  • Conduct process development and continuous improvement projects under mentorship of engineering staff
  • Analyze data and present results to larger Engineering team


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Junior, Senior, or Grad student pursuing a degree in mechanical, biomedical engineering, or directly related discipline
  • Strong design, testing, and analytical skills required (e.g. engineering and statistical analysis)
  • Demonstrated communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Knowledge of SolidWorks preferred
  • Experience with mechanical assembly and / or machining is a plus
