Product Engineer, New Product Introduction (NPI)
Job description
The Product Engineer position will be in our Howmet Engines NPI Team and will support manufacturing through process control, improvement initiatives, and assume direct responsibility for integrity for assigned new product introductions. This position will also establish and maintain external & internal customer associate documents; prepare part specific work instructions; maintain knowledge of job cost; and develop/implement appropriate plans to improve profitability.

Job Responsibilities :
- Plans and formulates new product introduction engineering programs within area of assigned responsibility.
- Implements and reviews part, tooling and process design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards and customer contract requirements and related specifications.
- Supports activities concerned with technical development, customer issues, cost reduction programs and in resolving engineering design and test problems.
- Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications and drawing releases.
- Prepares interim and completion project report, as necessary.
- Provides technical support for assigned new product introduction area of assignment.
- Interfaces with production personnel regarding all processing requirements. Interacts with suppliers and customers on technical issues.
- Performs process quality investigations, as required.
- Develops and implements process improvements and cost reductions.
- Designs tools and fixtures pertinent to processing.
- Generates material requisitions to initiate procurement.
- Translates customer requirements into usable work instructions and interfaces with customer on technical issues.
- Review purchase orders, specifications and blueprints for impact.
- Assembles data packages for customer approval.
- Specifies processing and generates work instructions.
- Actively pursues elimination of waste, the improvement of equipment reliability and efficiency, and the reduction of operating costs. Employs statistical methods as necessary.
- Continuously improves the performance of job-related responsibilities.
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum of 7 years experience as a product engineer in the investment casting industry.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
- This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 8 or more years experience in the investment casting industry as a product engineer.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution in the following disciplines preferred: Aerospace, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial.
- Experience interacting with customers, manufacturing and quality for new part introductions.
- Strong verbal, written, and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of MS Office.
- Able to work in a self-directed or team environment and have good organizations skills.
- Knowledge of Six Sigma, statistical analysis, and scientific methods for problem solving.
