Responsibilities:
- Adheres to all safety policies and procedures.
- Adheres to all quality standards as outlined in the Quality Management System (QMS).
- Follows direct instructions from supervisor.
- Displays positive work ethics and provides positive influence on program participants and coworkers.
- Reads job packet and work instructions and performs work as assigned by supervisor.
- Works as part of a team.
- Mixes, measures, and pours ingredients.
- Loads and unloads items from machines and carts.
- Assembles the materials needed to produce finished products.
- May use basic tools such as hammer, screwdriver, wrench, and glue gun to complete production work.
- May use electric/battery tools such as drills, blowers, cutters, gluers, grinders, and sewing machines in operations.
- May operate/use air powered tools such as drills, drivers, sanders, staplers, crimpers, and fillers in production operations.
- Meets quotas and production standards.
- Affixes labels, logos, and other exterior details to products.
- Packs up completed products and prepares them for shipment.
- May operate automated packaging machines.
- Observes and removes faulty product from assembly.
- May work at multiple facilities.
- Keeps equipment and work area clean and free of hazardous materials.
- Reports issues or problems with production to supervisor.
- Suggests fixtures and workstation enhancements to improve safety, process, and workflow.
- Unloads, organizes, and stocks incoming shipments.
- Gathers the materials needed to produce finished products.
- Reads and interprets equipment gages.
- Start assembly and production machinery at beginning of shift.
- Packages completed products, prepares shipment paperwork, and prepares them for shipment.
- Assures that outgoing products are counted and packaged accordingly to specifications.
- Performs operator level preventive maintenance on equipment.
- May operate/use material handling equipment such as a pallet jack or forklift.
- Accomplishes all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested for successful completion of the mission of GIV.
Qualifications:
- Less than high school education; or up to one-month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to achieve and maintain forklift certification.
