The Production Technician is responsible for monitoring and controlling hydrogen plant operation, to ensure the safe, compliant and reliable production of on-spec hydrogen and steam for the customer, at optimum plant conditions. Other assignments delegated by the Production Manager will include troubleshooting plant operation, identifying and correcting operational issues, safe work permitting, equipment condition monitoring, identifying and documenting plant maintenance needs, regulatory compliance, and adherence to safety processes and procedures. This is a rotating shift schedule position, requiring work to include nights and weekends.
Job Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
Meets or exceeds the company’s safety goals, standards and policies
- Fully supports, instills, and reinforces corporate health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures
- Maintains a safe, efficient, and environmentally friendly operating facility
- Actively demonstrates leadership skills in daily operational duties
- Executes work consistent with Air Liquide policies, procedures and work processes, including standard operating procedures, safe work permitting, energy control and isolation (LOTO), confined space entry, hot work, pre-job plans, and regular inspections of plant environmental and safety systems, to deliver best-in-class operating performance
- Ensures that all contractors, visitors, co-workers and others comply with company safety policies and procedures
- Models operating best practices at all times
- Completes operating documentation and reporting requirements, including shift reports and shift logs
- Issues permits for safe work and maintenance tasks of the facility
- Keeps current on all training and development programs for plant technicians
- Monitors key operating parameters every shift, to ensure plant operation is optimized
- Documents and is diligent in keeping accurate records of plant operation
- Performs walk through of the plant every shift, to identify and correct operational or equipment issues, and ensure these are addressed
Assists and works closely with Production Technician to address facility needs including
- Assists with in-depth process troubleshooting
- Continuous learning and improvement of operating knowledge and operating best practices
- Generate work orders and issue safe work permits for maintenance activities within the plant
- Follows standard operating procedures; can read and interpret drawings, flow charts, process piping isometrics, simple schematics, P&ID’s, PFD’s, electrical schematics, and other technical documentation related to operational and/or equipment processes
- Deliver on-site safety training to contractors, vendors, guests, or visitors to the facility as needed
- Actively participate in plant safety meetings and inspections
- Foster good working relationships with the customer
- Shift coverage and rotation
- Follows policies and procedures on proper notification procedures for vacation scheduling, floating holidays, and personal days off
- Fills in for emergency shift coverage as situations warrant
Requirements:
ESSENTIAL
- Demonstrated safety experience in a processing plant or similar work environment
- Demonstrated initiative and self motivation
- Demonstrated experience working in a team environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, written and spoken English at the 12th grade level
- Able to perform basic math functions
- Able to use Google Workspace and MS Office software
- High school diploma or equivalent
PREFERRED
- 2+ years of operator/process technician experience in a continuous operation processing plant (chemical plant, refinery, or similar operation)
- Hydrogen plant (SMR) experience
- Process Technician (AA) degree
- Knowledgeable in processing plant environmental requirements
- Experienced in process troubleshooting, optimization and maintenance troubleshooting
- Familiar with distributed process control systems
- Demonstrated mechanical ability
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems
- Plant turnaround maintenance experience
- Emergency response team experience
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Full range of motion and ability to lift 50 lbs
Job Type: Contract
Salary: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
Schedule:
- 12 hour shift
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
