Bakersfield is a great place to work and live, and in this position, you'll be treating patients in person at an acute inpatient facility (16 beds), a long-term care unit (55 beds), and three local clinics in the Bakersfield area.

As for compensation, you have the option to work as a Contractor or as a direct employee. The minimum salary for this position is $360,000 annually, but this may be adjusted depending on your experience, education, certification, and language skills. You'll also receive reimbursement for your California medical license and California DEA certificate, and PMPI will cover your malpractice insurance. Additionally, a relocation package will be provided.

Requirements:

  • 4 years of Psychiatry Residency
  • 2 years post-residency work experience
  • Licenses/Certifications:
    • MD/DO
    • Adult Board Certification - must have within one year of joining the practice
    • California Medical License - will reimburse if relocating
    • California DEA certificate - will help obtain
  • Must be in good standing
  • Compassionate & empathetic, especially toward the underserved community
  • Bi- or Multi-lingual with an emphasis on Spanish is a plus but not a must
  • Proficient in the use of Electronic Medical/Health Records (EMR/EHR)
  • Comfortable with e-prescribe Rx

The clinical work involves evaluating and treating routine inpatient adult psychiatric patients in a local 16 bed acute Psychiatric Health Facility (PHF) with on-call coverage for the scheduled days which are arranged between existing inpatient providers. This position would round in the inpatient unit, attend Thursday afternoon IDT meetings, & potential but rare court appearances for committed patients as needed.

In the long term care unit of 55 beds, the duties include monthly on-call availability via text (rarely phone), and once a month rounds on patients. Wednesday afternoons are reserved for rare court appearances for conserved patients, which is interspersed with medical advisory meetings with PMPI groups at the Bakersfield office.

Outpatient work occupies the remainder of the work week in the various contracted clinics around Bakersfield. This includes ACTion Level IV Clinic and Community Health Center Integrated Clinics.
