Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is passionate about promoting good mental health and wellbeing. Our Specialist Perinatal Mental Health team provide a holistic and multidisciplinary approach to caring for women experiencing mental health illness during the perinatal period. We are a county wide service with a base currently in Truro. However, due to expansion we are seeking an additional base in the east of the county. It is expected that you will work in either the west or the east of the county with a base that is near to your geographical work/home area.

The team consists of qualified and trainee nurses, occupational therapists, social workers, nursery nurses, a health visitor, psychologists, psychiatrist, administration, and peer support workers led by a service lead, supported by two team managers and clinical leads. The team work collaboratively to support recovery and improving bonds with baby in the crucial first 1001 days.

We are looking for a solution-focused team player who is passionate about high quality care for women and their babies across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. You will be able to work collaboratively with our organisational partners in IAPT (Increasing Access to Psychological Therapies), Infant mental health, Special Parenting Service, Maternity Services, health visiting, the MBU (Mother and Baby Unit) in Devon, and other partnership agencies to deliver a unified and safe service to expectant and new mothers, their babies and partners.

This post holder will work within the Community Perinatal Team and will provide psychological therapy interventions to clients open to the team. The post holder will be line managed by the Perinatal Team Manager and receive professional supervision through the Perinatal Psychology and Psychological Therapies structure. The post holder will primarily work with clients who have a range of complex mental health difficulties in the perinatal period for which the modality in which the postholder holds a qualification/accreditation/certification has been demonstrated to be clinically effective.

The post holder will work as a member of the wider perinatal Psychology and Psychological Therapies team, as well as working as a member of the perinatal MDT. They will liaise, advise and consult with team colleagues on the psychological therapy component of care packages and pathways.

Many women on caseload see multiple members of the team to ensure we deliver a holistic, high quality service that is safe, person-centred, and focused on family and recovery. Regular 121, group support and supervision are provided, along with CPD and regular training opportunities to enable you to feel assured and grow in your role.

We’re an NHS community and mental health provider Trust based in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We deliver community and hospital-based care to improve people’s physical and mental health. We also provide specialist support to people with dementia or a learning disability.
