We are currently looking a for 'Quality Assurance Manager' based in Cobb County.
PURPOSE:
As the Quality Assurance Manager for First Transit, you will have responsibility for all aspects of quality. You will play a key role in identifying all levels of maintenance problems, recommend and initiate effective solutions and corrective action.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Advises Maintenance Manager of unsafe maintenance conditions or practices and/or vehicle abuse;
- Enforce quality compliance objectives and department goals that support First Transit 5’s initiatives. Ensure that KPI’s are achieved;
- Obtain feedback from location GM’s and Operations Supervisors on areas of satisfaction and dissatisfaction. Ensure complaints are effectively resolved, and develop action items to improve marketplace success;
- Manage, organize, build, and continually improve the quality infrastructure to maintain the company Quality Management System;
- Manage and maintain quality inspection, test, validate and monitor KPI performance;
- Lead lean/continuous improvement activities for Quality processes. Must be change agent and ambassador for continuous improvement;
- Identify staff development and training needs. Provide employee coaching and development or otherwise ensure training is obtained;
- Responsible for departmental compliance and enforcement of all company policies and procedures. Ensure consistent and effective employee relations;
- Actively participate in safety improvement activities;
- Provide input and recommendations on staffing, training and shop tooling;
- Participate in goal deployment and strategic planning activities, typically detailing first level improvement initiates and targets to improve;
- Conducts process audits on First Transit SOP’s;
- Additional special projects and duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
- Inter Provincial Red seal in Commercial Transport Mechanic and or Heavy Duty on Road Mechanic. Will consider Red Seal Automotive Mechanic with relevant experience;
- Must possess valid Class 5 driver’s license and ability to operate a motor vehicle.
EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE:
- 8 years’ experience in a fleet maintenance environment;
- Experienced in performing Quality inspection on all makes of Busses;
- Computer literate and possess a working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
- 3-5 years’ supervisory experience with hourly employees and employees covered by CBA’s;
- Considerable knowledge of vehicle DOT standards, preventative and predictive maintenance principles;
- Have the ability to effectively prioritize tasks and manage time effectively;
- Be able to effectively and appropriately interact with all levels of employees, drivers, senior management, client representatives, union officials and the general public;
- Proven experience promoting an incident free workplace in a supervisory role;
- Excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills, experience training supervisory personnel; fluent in English;
- Comfortable with a hands-on approach to safety on the site.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Must be physically able to inspect all aspects of transit vehicles and facilities in all types of weather. Travel to region locations regularly (approximately 50% of time). Work environments include typical office, transit facilities, maintenance facilities, transit vehicles and airports;
- This position is a 4 days on 3 days off rotation with flights paid from either Calgary or Edmonton with camp accommodations provided.
