WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

GreyBeard Steel is looking for a reliable Quality Control Inspector to join our team. Our Company is dedicated to building relationships as well as the communities we serve by delivering quality projects on time, safely and within budget. A Quality Control Inspector monitors the quality of incoming and outgoing products or materials for the company. This position is tasked with conducting tests, analyzing measurements, and overall conformance to shop drawings and quality manual. Our company offers a robust benefit package that includes medical, dental, vision, a flexible 4-day schedule (Monday through Thursday 4-10 hr. days. Shifts start at 6am with a half hour lunch), and paid time off.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Perform regular quality assessments on all incoming materials from vendors and outgoing products for shipping.

· Reject all products and materials that fail to meet quality expectations.

· Read blueprints, plans, and specifications to understand the requirements of the contract documents.

· Measure product dimensions, examine functionality, and compare the final product to the contract requirements.

· Recommend improvements to the production process to ensure quality control.

· Document inspection outcomes by completing detailed reports and performance records.

· Teach the production team about quality control concerns to improve product quality.

· Observe the production process for quality control issues.

· Resolve quality-related issues in a timely manner.

· Supplement time as needed with fabrication and production.

· Production Tracking via Tekla software.

· Production machinery maintenance and calibration.

AUTHORITY

· Stop work and rework of in process material, rejection/acceptance of materials.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING

  • Welding Inspection Qualification:

§ Documented Training/Experience on the Following topics:

· AWS D1.1 Visual Inspection Acceptance Criteria

· WPS, PQR

· Current AWS, WABO welding certification

· Demand Critical welding requirements

· A.E.S.S. Requirements and guidelines

· N.O.M.M.A. Requirements and guidelines

· Familiar with D1.1, D1.2, D1.4, D1.8 AWS Codes

  • Bolting Inspection Qualification:

§ Documented Training on the Following topics:

· Pre-Installation Verification

· Storage of Fastener Components

· Installation of Tension Control Bolts

· Bolted Connection Inspection per AISC 360 “Specification for Structural Steel Buildings” Section N and the RCSC “Specification for Structural Joints Using High Strength Bolts”

  • Eye Examination Qualifications:
  • QCI shall have passed an eye examination with or without corrective lenses to prove near vision acuity of Jaeger J-2 at a distance of 12 in-17 in.
  • Eye examinations shall be required every three years or less, if necessary, to demonstrate adequacy.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

· Understanding of fabrication practices and principles.

· Ability to learn new processes.

· Basic data entry skills and math calculation skills.

· Must follow instructions.

· Follow through and complete assignments.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Forklift driving experience.

· Strong work ethic: on time, dependable, quality conscious, team player.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

· Standing and walking are required all day.

· Bending, squatting, pulling/pushing, reaching, and handling are also required on a frequent basis.

· Hand manipulation and fine manipulation are required on a continuous basis.

· Lifting, carrying, and pulling objects requiring 60 pounds of force is required on a regular basis.

Pay: $18.85 - $28.66 per hour
