With 70 beds, Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital (SBELIH) is an acute care community hospital committed to delivering excellence in patient care and meeting the current and emerging health needs of the North Fork and Shelter Island. At SBELIH, inpatients are under the care of world-renowned hospitalists, physicians who specialize in inpatient medicine and taking care of hospitalized patients in place of a primary care provider. Centers of excellence include Medical-Surgical, Advanced Ambulatory Care, Behavioral Health, Emergency, Geriatric, Diagnostic Services, Physical Therapy and Gastrointestinal Services. SBELIH is fully accredited by the Joint Commission and has been awarded the Gold Seal of Approval.

This position will support the HR Department in all aspects of the recruiting process and execution of talent acquisition strategies.
How you will impact the Hospital
Job Postings
- Ensures timely and accurate documentation in the applicant tracking system for compliance
- Understands and effectively manages the candidate pipeline to ensure continued movement of candidates through the recruitment, interviewing and hire process.
- Upon receipt of Separation Action Form and approved job requisition, creates job postings for internal / external portals
- Receives and processes requests for additional or replacement personnel.
- Collects job requirements and prepares advertisements/job postings in compliance with contract requirements.
- Posts job (s) in accordance with Hospital policy and applicable collective bargaining agreement guidelines
- Ensures adherence to job posting policy for and forwards posting and documents to the appropriate Department Head.
Recruitment
- Ensures timely and accurate documentation in the applicant tracking system for compliance
- Monitor job posting placement, track responses and provide feedback regarding effectiveness of ad.
- Collect, sort and forward applicant paperwork to managers
- Administers appropriate tests for position being filled.
- Upon final decision of candidate status, extend employment offers to applicants
- Send disposition notifications via applicant tracking system to those not selected
- Coordinate the pre-employment screening process including reference checks ( verbal and written) (2) background checks, certification and / or license verification along with O.M.I.G., O.I.G. and SAM.
- Coordinates required paperwork for Employee Health clearance.
- Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors relating to job postings (internal and/or external)
New Hire Process
- Maintain contact with applicants that have accepted employment offers.
- Compiles new hire folder and paperwork utilizing HR Personnel File Checklist
- Make photocopies and performs other clerical functions.
- Assist new hires in completing employment paperwork, process badge, verify Employment Eligibility (I-9 documentation and maintains it is the current information) and other pertinent applicable on-boarding forms.
- Coordinates paperwork, PCR's, orientation etc. in applicant folders.
- Copy and distribute new hire paperwork to appropriate departments.
- Assist with inputting new hire information into the HRIS system as needed.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Prepares and manages monthly Hospital-wide Orientation
- Assists in projects including HR events, benefits open enrollment, employee communications and company-wide meetings
- Maintain supply of HR forms for employee use.
- Assist employees and volunteers who need ID Badges (new or lost).
- Prepares documentation i.e., memos, e-mails, letters as applicable
- Assist in managing third party contracts for temporary personnel
- Includes monitoring renewal of agency and/or contractor personnel as directed
- Provides overall administrative support to the HR department, including maintaining, processing, documenting employee records.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned and/or requested
To be successful:
- Bachelor’s Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred
- Two to three years of Human Resource experience required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent service skills interpersonal and customer service skills
- Thorough understanding of laws, regulations, and guidelines related to HR and recruitment
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to be highly detail oriented and attention to detail
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
