The Subscription Service Division (SSD) Regional Sales Manager is responsible for maintaining relationships with current customers and potential customers by identifying and selling all SSD products and services offered by EBSCO within their assigned territory. This territory includes academic libraries in Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, South Dakota, and North Dakota. Through a consultative sales process, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing publisher journal content sales to existing customers and prospective customers. This includes electronic and print formats purchased on a title-by-title basis or as a packaged collection, and selling EBSCO’s ability to service the invoicing, fulfillment, and overall management of publisher journal content.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Regularly meet with existing and prospective customers in person and via video conferencing, providing balanced sales coverage of accounts in the assigned territory.
  • Sell SSD products and services by establishing contacts and developing strong relationships with customers and prospects; recommend product and service solutions. Maintain relationships with customers by providing support, information, and guidance. Recommend product and service improvements.
  • Identify new sales opportunities, while retaining current business within existing territory.
  • Meet quota for visit minimums, which is established for each EBSCO fiscal year.
  • Travel up to 60%; including attendance at designated conferences, meetings, or other events as assigned by Sales Management.
  • Achieve an expert level of knowledge and serve as a visible spokesperson for EBSCO SSD products.
  • Work closely with EBSCO Management to effectively price SSD products.
  • Achieve an established new sales quota each fiscal year for SSD products and services.
  • Complete required territorial reporting such as, but not limited to, sales call reports, competitor data, territorial strategy, sales pipeline, and expense reports on a weekly basis.


Requirements:

  • Five (5) years of true sales experience, previous experience selling into the academic field is preferred, or five years of library experience
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 60%
  • Must have valid driver’s license
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, and Outlook
  • Live within the territory or near a major airport near the territory
  • Excellent communications skills, oral and written, and public speaking experience


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science (MLS/MLIS)
  • Two (2) years of true sales experience, previous experience selling into the academic field is preferred, or a combination of sales and library experience
  • Knowledge of library collection development (serials or monographs), technical services, publishing, and/or integrated library systems
  • Use or familiarity with CRM software
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Self-motivated, critical thinking skills, well organized, detail-oriented, flexible, creative, and thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports; ability to respond to common inquiries from customers or members of the business community and effectively present information to management and public groups


Target Annual Compensation Range: $105,000 - $150,000. This Pay Target range includes a typical sales commission. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, education, training, and experience, as well as the position’s work location.
