We are looking for a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. You will care for our consumers and facilitate their speedy recovery at our new expanded Crisis Stabilization Unit, The Oaks, located behind our main building at 101 S. Eisenhower Dr., Beckley. We will be providing unit providing detox and treatment for individuals with Substance Use Disorders.

We are seeking a responsible and well-trained professional who is able to give the best nursing care with little supervision. You will be compassionate and cool-tempered. The goal is to promote our consumer’s well-being by providing high quality nursing care.

Provides services to ensure that the medical needs of men/women in our substance abuse residential programs. This role serves as part of a treatment team and is responsible for assessment and/or coordination of specialized assessments, medical services, pharmacological services, and health-related education for consumers and their children.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors the operation of each facility’s medication room, ensuring that medications are stored properly and safely, records are completed accurately, and the overall space is orderly, sanitary, and functioning efficiently.
  • Assesses consumers and their children on an ongoing basis for medical/health care needs, and ensures that necessary medical services are coordinated promptly.
  • Arranges for HIV, Hepatitis A, B and C screenings as needed, makes appropriate referrals for follow-up and provides education on the same to consumers.
  • Liaises with SHARE, Raleigh General Hospital, The Associates in OB/GYN, Access Health Clinic, Beckley Pediatrics, and other local medical service providers to promote effective coordination of care for consumers and their children.
  • Coordinates admissions/discharges to hospitals for both consumers and children as needed.
  • Resolves medication issues, keeps client medication prescriptions and refills current, obtains physicians’ orders (written and verbal), and obtains Medicaid Prior Authorizations in order to ensure expedient and uninterrupted services for consumers and their children.
  • Coordinates Medication Assisted Treatment at all sites. At Turning Pointe this will include inductions, urine drug tests, LPN coverage for the 24 hour induction process, attending initial physician’s appointment with consumer, and ensuring all prescriptions written are filled and started in a timely manner.
  • Assesses consumers for substance intoxication/overmedication and withdrawal, and coordinates appropriate medical interventions.
  • Works closely with the treatment teams at all sites on a daily basis, and attends weekly team meetings to contribute to the overall assessment of consumers’ wellness throughout treatment.
  • Completes all documentation timely and in accordance with current processes.
  • Maintains schedule of activities in Carelogic, monitors alerts in Carelogic (failed activities, missing treatment plans, activities not statused, etc.) and resolves issues daily.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Formal Education, Certification/Licensure, & Other Requirements

1. Must be a Registered Nurse in good standing with the West Virginia Board of Examiners for Registered Professional Nurses.

2. At least one year of experience working with individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health disorders preferred.

3.Experience with pregnant and post-partum women with substance use disorders preferred.

4. Must be able to clear all required background checks.

5. Must possess a valid West Virginia driver’s license and have access to a vehicle.

Physical Requirements:

1. Frequent communications, verbal and written.

2. Frequent standing and/or sitting.

3. Visually or otherwise be able to identify, observe and assess consumers.

4. Ability to perform verbal and nonviolent physical crisis intervention techniques.
