Scripps Health Administrative Services supports our five hospitals and 19 outpatient facilities, which treat half a million patients annually through 2,600 affiliated physicians.The Medical Acute/Stepdown Unit at Scripps Mercy Chula Vista is currently a 34-bed unit. Patient population includes stroke, cardiac, S/P coronary angiography patients, and critical drip protocols patients. The unit focuses on patients that need continuous cardiac monitoring for myocardial infraction, chest pain, unstable angina, hypertension, percutaneous coronary intervention, diabetes, and renal failure.
As an RN in the Medical Acute/Stepdown Unit at Scripps Mercy Chula Vista, you will rotate between patients in two levels of care: step-down and med/surg/tele. You must be comfortable working with COVID positive patients as well as using cardiac rhythm interpretation, cardiac drips, and respiratory support. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 6 months experience working in a like unit such as SDU, PCU or DOU and at least 1 year of experience as an RN in an inpatient setting.
As a Registered Nurse, you will provide direct patient care within the scope of your practice. Patient care includes assessment, planning, and implementing a plan of care and evaluating patients' progress towards expected outcomes. As RN you will take primary responsibility for the patients' care as delivered by the Care Team under his/her supervision and work collaboratively with other members of the patient care team to ensure optimal patient care.
This is a full-time, 12-hour Day shift position located at Scripps Mercy Chula Vista.

- Registered nursing degree from an accredited school of nursing.
- Current CA RN License
- Current BLS and ACLS through American Heart Association
- One (1) year of recent RN experience (at least 6 months in an inpatient setting)
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to demonstrate positive behaviors.
- 6 months of experience in Acute Care Medical Surgical/Telemetry/Stepdown/DOU/PCU/LTAC/SNF/Post-Acute RN
- NIHSS certification or ability to obtain within 30 days from hire
- PCCN certification
