Outstanding Biotechnology company has an immediate opening for a Research Associate position to help revolutionize plant breeding using unique, patented gene editing technology. The successful applicant will help to run automated high-throughput workflows to genotype gene edited materials across Company's R&D pipeline. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Work with the genotyping team to determine and address any laboratory support requirements.
•Interface with the procurement team to guarantee timely delivery of laboratory-related reagents and supplies.
•Coordination and processing of requests, purchase orders, and other required documentation for lab-related materials.
•To ensure cost-effective and high-quality supply, negotiate contracts with suppliers and maintain supplier relationships.
•Check inventory levels and proactively restock supplies to prevent stockouts and lab activity delays.
•Develop and maintain a Kanban system in order to optimize laboratory procedures and inventory management.
•Assist in the maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment to ensure optimal performance for genotyping processes.
•Establish and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) with an emphasis on efficiency and quality assurance for lab support tasks.
•Work with the Research and Development team to discover lab process improvement and cost reduction opportunities.
•Keep accurate and current records of lab stock, equipment, and vendor agreements.
•Contribute to the continuous improvement of lab safety by identifying potential hazards and implementing appropriate preventative measures.
•Coordinate and schedule regular equipment maintenance, servicing, and calibration, working closely with equipment manufacturers, service providers, and the internal team to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance of laboratory instruments.
REQUIREMENTS:
•Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent laboratory support or management experience.
•Good expertise and familiarity with genotyping operations or associated laboratory techniques.
•Minimum of two years' experience in a lab support position, particularly in a biotechnology or life sciences context.
•Knowledge of procurement procedures, contract negotiations, and vendor administration.
•Experience with Kanban organizing techniques and best practices for inventory management.
•Strong interpersonal and communication abilities, as well as the ability to operate effectively in a team setting.
•Well-developed organizing and multitasking skills. Detail-oriented problem solver with a proactive mindset.
•Knowledge of pertinent software, including inventory management systems, laboratory information management systems (LIMS), and procurement platforms.
•Budgeting and cost management experience pertinent to laboratory operations.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $61,000.00 - $74,000.00 per year
