Job Summary

The CWU Libraries invites applicants for the Research Engagement Librarian to join a dedicated library team in offering dynamic, user-centered research services. Working under the direction of the Dean of Libraries, this position is a champion for research services and digital literacy. They are excited to help students build enduring research and information competencies. This individual is a strong advocate for underserved student populations and is engaged in responsive teaching for diverse learners and instruction of courses and workshops. As the coordinator of research services at CWU Libraries, the person in this position provides cross departmental leadership and continuous service improvement. Seeking out and collaborating with existing support units, such as Multimodal Learning, successful candidates are eager to provide research services, teach digital tools, and engage students with technology that advances research and learning. The successful candidate will integrate CWU’s commitment to diversity throughout their work and create a learning environment that is welcoming, accessible, and inclusive for all students. All faculty librarians have department liaison responsibilities, provide instruction, participate in collection development, and contribute to research services.

Minimum Qualifications

  • ALA-accredited master’s degree in Library/Information Science or an equivalent terminal degree, by June 2023 or start date.
  • Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, and enthusiasm for working with a diverse campus community.
  • Demonstrated experience and commitment to providing excellent research services.
  • Aptitude to stay current with technology and research services in academic libraries.
  • Ability to proactively conceptualize, coordinate, assess, and work across departments to deliver user-centered library services.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills in multiple modalities.
  • Possess a record of and willingness to continue scholarship, research, and professional service appropriate to appointment as a tenure-track faculty member.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in an academic library.
  • Experience using and technical knowledge of platforms, such as: calendar scheduling, room reservations, chat, libguides, or discovery systems.
  • Experience with lesson planning, instructional design, learning assessment, and familiarity with the ACRL Framework.
  • Experience in the use and adoption of technologies and platforms that support research, teaching and library services, such as digital humanities, data management, or digital media tools.
  • Interest or experience in cultivating information and digital literacy skills.
  • Experience or interest in mentoring students from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for students through teaching and/or mentoring activities.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

Salary: $66,000 - $75,500 annually
