SUBJECT: RESEARCH & EVALUATION SPECIALISTREPORTS TO: Director of School and Student PerformanceACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE: The Research & Evaluation Specialist is responsible for generating insights that inform district and school action. The Research and Evaluation Specialist will produce key findings and knowledge in support of improvement efforts tied to the districts strategic plan as well as key performance indicators. The Specialist will also cultivate partnerships with academic and policy centers to create and pursue a collaborative research agenda for Worcester Public Schools.PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.Produce briefs, slide decks and other products that are audience appropriate and that summarizes and clearly conveys key findings and suggested action. 2.Lead internal data collection efforts; liaise with other entities that seek to collect data.3.Initiate, conceptualize and design plans to gather information and/or analyze data4.Analyze data and share findings with a variety of audiences.5.Manage the research and data review process.6.Review emerging academic research to inform district practices.7.Cultivate researcher-practitioner partnerships with academic and policy centers.8.Design and implement systems for collaborating with the district grants department.9.Ensure compliance with all legal and ethical guidelines including for the protection of student privacy.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1.Masters degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience in research and methodology, educational statistics, education or program evaluation, measurement and analysis.2.Knowledge of program evaluation/research processes, design, methods and approaches.3.Knowledge of program evaluation/research requirements and restrictions in educational settings including legal and ethical guidelines.4.Ability to create products that explain complex concepts in clear and concise, easy to understand terms for different audiences.5.Demonstrated knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods.6.Experience with data management and advanced statistical analysis of large data sets using a statistical software package (e.g., SPSS, R, Stata, SAS).7.Strong experience in developing valid and reliable qualitative and quantitative data collection tools; use of online survey tools.8.Experience using the Microsoft Office suite of applications including Microsoft Word, Access and Microsoft Excel for producing district and school-level reports.9.Ability to establish trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders.10.Commitment to cultural humility, diversity, equity, and inclusion.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1.Doctorate from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience in research and methodology, educational statistics, education or program evaluation, measurement and analysis 2.Three or more years of applied research/program evaluation experienceSALARY: $75,000- $85,000 - non-represented positionWORK YEAR: Full-year position, 8:30 a.m.
