Job description
Position Summary
To give direction and guidance that will elevate and increase work productivity among the sales team while seeing that all practices are being followed to ensure proper operation of Wabash Valley Goodwill retail stores.
Essential Duties include the following.
(Other duties within the scope of this position may be assigned.)
- Provides excellent customer service and maintain that service across all team members.
- Multi-tasks and communicates store needs to all team members.
- Keeps the store full, clean, and pulled.
- Maintains excellent attendance.
- On time for work and all scheduled meetings.
- Review customer/employee complaints and resolve them as appropriate.
- Transmit all reports to upper management as required.
- Answers calls from customers and employees.
- May receive calls during non-working hours from any Goodwill employee for support.
- Ensures all policies and procedures are followed.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.
- Must have basic computer skills.
Store Responsibilities:
- Meets required overall sales/production goals and quotas.
- Maintains proper security of the building and merchandise.
- Practices proper opening and closing procedures.
- Assures the store has accurate and appropriate coverage and fills in the gaps when needed.
- Monitors the operations of cash registers and deposits to insure the proper accountability of all transactions, on a daily, ongoing basis
- Conducts random cash audits on POS machines.
- Ensures that monthly store counts on textile are completed.
- Monitors the stock level and maintenance of store merchandise and adjusts as necessary.
- Ensures that proper merchandising and displays are throughout the store.
- Directs stocking procedures in the store and assists.
- Sorts and prices incoming stock as needed.
- Have knowledge of store layout, policies and price lines.
- Monitors maintenance on building and submits work orders as needed.
- Same duties as sales associates applies to all management team members.
- Make bank deposits and banking visits for store change when needed.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple memos, instructions and short correspondence.
- Ability to write simple correspondence, ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Team Member Responsibilities:
- Leads by example of what a exemplary employee should look like.
- Gives clear direction and communicates the expectations required of each task.
- Stops, refrains from or does not contribute to drama in the workplace.
- Ensures that employees are engaged in work related activities at all times.
- Completes assignment sheets for employees and ensures employees are staying in assigned areas.
- Reports requests for leaves through the proper channels. This includes anyone not working as scheduled and shift switches.
- Conducts and maintains confidentiality of employee disciplines and guidance. Advises management staff, along with the appropriate personnel at the main office, in a timely manner.
- Prepares employees work schedules. Also posts the schedule for team and submits schedule to main office.
- Conducts monthly team member meeting as required.
- Conducts employee performance reviews as required.
- Welcomes new employees and provides support to reduce employee turnover.
- Must be able to handle team member disputes in a timely manner and document in personnel file.
- Trains management team and sales associates
- Ability to effectively instruct personnel in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervises Assistant manager, Crew Leaders, Sales Associates, Client Workers and volunteers.
Education and or Experience
Must have high school diploma or GED, and must have at least one-year experience working in a retail setting.
Must have a valid driver’s license and insurance.

Associates are required to follow Goodwill safety rules and regulations, as outlined in Goodwill’s employee handbook.
- Responsible for reporting any potentially unsafe working conditions.
- Responsible for reporting any incident / accident that occurs within the shift it occurred.
- Responsible for wearing the proper protective equipment as assigned.
- Responsible to use the equipment & materials properly.

- Ability to stand on feet for long periods of time, 7-8 hours per day.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, move/push / pull up to 100 pounds.
- Ability to use hand to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus, ability to distinguish colors.
- Ability to operate and drive a motor vehicle and maintain a current driver’s license and insurance.
- Must be able to be outside sometimes working in hot/cold temperatures.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee may be outside to clean around store location or to help a donor, or bring in donations.
