Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To maintain and further develop the pharmacy service to cancer patients, we are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated pharmacist to join our lively, progressive and dynamic pharmacy team.
Our ideal candidate will be:
- interested in helping us develop and deliver our vision for a patient-focussed clinical pharmacy service
- able to drive directorate and departmental clinical governance issues, clinical audit, practice research, service improvement projects and more
- keen to further their career within cancer service
The post will provide comprehensive cancer clinical and technical pharmacy experience through a competency based training programme. You will have the opportunity to work in a broad range of clinical haematology and oncology specialties and settings including inpatient wards, day-care, outpatient clinics and ambulatory care.

Knowledge & Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Completion of a four year MPharm degree (or an undergraduate degree in Pharmacy with relevant experience), registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council, and demonstrable post-graduate experience in pharmacy
- Demonstrable evidence of competence in general clinical practice
- Demonstrable evidence of competence in oncology and/or haematology clinical practice
- Postgraduate qualification in clinical pharmacy, or satisfactory evidence of equivalent competence as demonstrated in a practice portfolio of evidence
- Demonstrates a broad knowledge of pharmacy practice
- Understanding of national pharmacy priorities
- Demonstrates awareness of research evidence in clinical practice
Desirable criteria
- Aware of models of non-doctor prescribing
- Successful completion of an approved course for non-medical prescribers
- Registered with the GPhc as an independent prescriber
- Implements the findings of pharmacy practice research
Experience
Essential criteria
- Previous experience in supervising the day-to-day practice activities of others
- Ability to work without direct supervision
Desirable criteria
- Independent prescriber in a cancer services role

- Ability to utilise presentation, spreadsheet and database software packages to support the work of the clinical pharmacy team

- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Displays honesty and integrity, is aware of ethical dilemmas relating to medicines use, and respects confidentiality
