Job description

Hiring a sleep technician, the individual will be under general supervision of the sleep manager to provide comprehensive evaluation of sleep disorders in the sleep lab.

You will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and integrating patient information. You will need to follow sleep center protocols related to the sleep study. Verify, collect documents, and obtain consent for the study. Explain the procedure to the patient and select appropriate equipment and calibrate the equipment to determine proper functioning and make adjustments if necessary. You will apply electrodes and sensors according to standards and perform routine positive airway pressure (PAP) interface fitting and desensitization.

Education: Must have successful completion of a technology program associated with a state licensed and/or a nationally accredited educational facility, as well as a certification by a nationally recognized certification board and holds either the RST, RPSGT, or SDS credential.

Physical demands: the employee is frequently required to stand. Occasionally required to walk, sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Must be able to lift and/or move 50 pounds. Vision abilities required by this job include working with computers using close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

SKILLS: Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills, appropriate social skills, critical thinking and ability to work with minimal supervision to analyze complex situations and apply policy, teamwork skills, adhere to sleep center policies and procedures, participate in the quality assurance program, inspect and maintain sleep study related equipment and inventory, and comply with professional standards of conduct.
