SUMMARY

Under the minimal direction of the Workers’ Compensation and Safety Manager and in collaboration with managers and supervisors, the Safety and Risk Coordinator participates in implementing goals, objectives, policies, and procedures related to workplace safety and security.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Collaborates with management to develop, prepare, and implement the organization’s comprehensive insurance and risk management policies and procedures.

Assesses and identifies risks that could impede the reputation, safety, security, or financial success of the organization.

Conducts risk assessments, collecting and analyzing documentation to evaluate the effectiveness of safety and security programs.

Reviews current safety training, implementing improvements and updates.

Proactively identifies systematic improvements and additions to the safety management program, including emergency preparedness, accident prevention, general safety, and risk management.

Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and exposures.

Creates safety teams in collaboration with the Workers’ Comp and Safety Manager to identify employees that can provide constructive feedback about workplace situations.

Facilitates workplace safety meetings.

Collaborates with Facilities Management for safety and security implementation processes.

Travels for agency business using reliable transportation.

Maintains regular attendance and punctuality.

Works evenings and weekends as required.

Performs other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's Degree is required in Occupational Safety and Health, Business Management, Risk Management, or a related field. Additional related work experience may substitute for the required education on a year-by-year basis.

Completed OSHA30 certificate preferred.


EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in workplace safety, accident/incident prevention, loss control, and safety education.

Previous experience effectively overseeing, maintaining, and updating confidential medical records.


OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

Advanced computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and related software.

Possesses good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to exercise strong organizational skills to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines without impacting operations.

Analytical, flexible, and decisive decision-making skills with strong detail orientation.

Ability to display discretion in protecting proprietary information and confidential, sensitive personal information.

Ability to work independently or as part of a team constructively and professionally with other employees, customers, and site personnel.

Effective presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.

Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required within 60 days of hire unless a religious or medical exemption is approved.

Maintain a valid California driver's license, reliable transportation, adequate auto insurance as required by State law, and insurability by agency carrier for those driving agency vehicles.
