Position: Safety Manager

Reports to: General Manager (UTR)

Summary:

Utility Traffic & Restoration, LLC (UTR) is now accepting applications for an immediate opening for a safety manager. UTR is a union contractor specializing in traffic control and surface restoration services for utility companies and their contractors throughout the Midwest.

Primary responsibilities:

- Create and implement safety policies and trainings for all company employee’s

- Conduct inspections of construction areas and identify, document, and recommend mitigation of hazardous / potentially hazardous conditions. Ensure quality control of job hazard analysis by field crews

- Incident, accident, injury investigation and documentation

- Perform jobsite inspections and observations

- Ensure all crews are equipped with proper safety tools

- Maintain safety and training records

- Inspects equipment, tools, and working conditions to ensure safety of workers

- Upload and maintain safety documentation on customer/vendor portals such as AVETTA or ISNETWORLD

- Work with all company employee’s to constantly modify and improve company practices

- Additional duties as requested by management

Qualifications:

- Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of team development and employee mentoring

- Experience and knowledge in DOT, FMCSA, ANSI, EPA, OSHA and other safety related standards

- Experience in a construction related environment required

- Experience in a traffic control and/or surface restoration environment is highly desired

- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, is required

- Ability to create and maintain relationships with vendors, customers, and employee’s

- Ability to coordinate several tasks at once and work under strict deadlines

- Valid driver’s license class D with clean driving record. Class B or A CDL would be preferred

- Must be able to pass a background check, drug testing, and DOT physical

- Must always be reliable and professional

- Ability to safely operate a company vehicle to and from job sites

- Must have strong attention to detail and surroundings

- Must be able to lift 50+ pounds on a semi-regular basis

- Must be able to work in an office, shop, and field setting. Must be able to work in all weather conditions when in the field.
