Job description
The School Safety Coordinator is a district-level position responsible for coordinating with a variety of stakeholders throughout the community to develop, update and maintain effective emergency operations and safety plans and procedures for all schools across the Lowell School District.
The School Safety Coordinator will develop, update and maintain district-wide and school specific Emergency Operations and Safety Plans as well as design and implement safety drills and exercises, and act as the district point person – responsible for executing and directing emergency responses in the event of a disaster or emergency.
The Specialist will be responsible for communicating safety procedures to district personnel and partners, and providing training on applicable safety procedures to staff and students when necessary.
The scope of this position requires being available, except while on approved leave, during all hours when school is in session and when school activities and events are taking place, via communication devices in order to respond to emergency situations.
This Coordinator will also manage the District’s response and protocols in response to pandemics and public health crisis, and manage testing which may be required.
Salary per LSAA contract (aligned with Family Resource Coordinator positions for compensation; 228 day work year)
Qualifications:
- A Master’s Degree.
- Massachusetts Certification as School Social Worker, Principal, Asst. Superintendent, School Adjustment Counselor or experience in coordination and training in emergency response in military, law enforcement, or other related government agencies.
