Opportunity at a Glance:The Village of Orland Park's Parks & Grounds department is now seeking responsible, enthusiastic individuals to work as Seasonal Maintenance employees during the 2023 summer to assist in maintaining over 600 acres of park space to meet the needs of residents and visitors of all ages including 60 village parks, over 30 miles of trails, 139 athletic fields/courts, and approximately 300 acres of open space acquired through the Village Open Lands of Orland Park program.
Key Responsibilities:
Duties include routine and general maintenance tasks at Village owned facilities. These positions require physical labor which might involve but is not limited to general landscaping and outdoor maintenance, facility maintenance, garbage pick-up, assisting dig-crews, some heavy lifting and other general maintenance duties as assigned. This work is primarily performed outdoors and the hours will be adjusted by management based on inclement weather.
These positions are assigned to the Grounds Division, however, may perform duties in other Parks & Grounds divisions.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills:
Valid driver’s license is also required, Class C preferred. Prior facility or outdoor maintenance experience preferred. Skill in the use of hand tools and in the operation of gasoline and electric powered equipment is also preferred.
These positions are ideal for college students seeking summer work. These are SEASONAL positions from mid-May through mid-August scheduled to work 40 hours per week Monday through Friday 6:00 am to 2:00 pm.
Must be available to work modified schedule for special events including 4th of July and Taste of Orland Park in early August.
