About this position
The Security Dispatcher in the Safety and Security Department answers calls for service, deploys security resources in an effective and efficient manner, utilizes Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) to record and monitor security resources, and monitors all safety and security systems.
What we’ll expect from you
- Answers incoming department calls in a polite and efficient manner and conveys messages accurately and timely.
- Deploys security personnel for assistance and emergency incidents.
- Utilizes Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) to create incidents and log activities electronically.
- Provides support for the security officers by monitoring of activities and tracking their location/duties. This includes utilizing Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) to check the status of an officer's condition while in the performance of their duties.
- Monitors the proper radio channels to obtain information from other North Memorial departments and air care.
- Communicates radio information concisely and professionally while complying with FCC requirements.
- Monitors all safety and security systems to include, but not limited to: CCTV, fire, panic, elevator and intrusion alarms, recording devices and any other systems installed to protect people and/or property.
- Greets and assists visitors to the department in a friendly and timely manner.
- Accepts other duties as assigned to promote the accomplishment of organizational goals.
- The team member is accountable to demonstrate proficiency for the skills outlined in the appropriate position skills list.

Education
- High school graduate or equivalent (GED).
- Post-secondary education preferred.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- 1 year experience as a Dispatcher in an EMS, Air Medical, Police, Fire, or Security Communications Center
- 2+ years of experience working in a medical setting with emphasis on incoming multi-line phones and triaging of calls
• 2+ years of experience working customer service with emphasis on multi-line phones and triaging of calls • Requires the ability to multi-task, problem solve, make effective decisions under pressure, work independently and in a team atmosphere.
- Requires the ability to work effectively with other hospital staff, public service agencies, peers, co-workers and the general public.
- Requires the ability to type 25 wpm.
- Basic computer skills with ability to enter data on security activity in a timely and efficient manner.
